I agree. Although I did end up buying it from a friend for $15.00. I think that is a reasonable price.

the easiest way to get it is that it is called the freedom of choice. You don't have to get why people do the things they do, but my best guess would be that people "wanted it" and that is why they bought it.

I bought it for $40 when it first came out and have no regrets. With online play, I feel the price tag was warranted. I get the feeling you're one of those people who will buy the full game and then complain about not being able to take a hairpin turn at 160mph.

1) Its not a demo. A demo is a slice of a finished product. Gran Turismo 5 is far from finished.

2) Its a Beta. People buy into betas because they want early access to games and want to contribute to the final product.

3) Its advanced access to one of the highest grossing franchises in gaming history along side Mario and GTA.

this "demo" contains more content and cars than most full priced games. GT5 wont be coming out for a looooonnng time,, id be surprised if even 2009 (probably early 2010, which is ridiculous but a reality)... for those people that dont wanna wait that long they have an option. It pisses me off when people get all girly upset about this game, nobody forces you to buy it, so dont and move on

I spent as much time on it as a $60 purchase especially while getting owned on S class.

GT5 won't even be worked on until all of the GT5P updates are finished based on an ign interview.

Anyone have trouble with S-class (S-7 and S-10) after the update.

Because I don't have time to get everything out of a game like GT5, it's just too big with all the cars and tuning options and races. I feel like I've payed $60 for a game and only utilized 10% of it before I move on to the next game. GT5 Prologue gives me a more compact sampling for a reduced price. I can get in, play a good chunk of the game and feel I've gotten my moneys worth. I won't be buying GT5.

This "demo" has more cars than many "full" racing games (Grid), and almost as many tracks as some others (Motorstorm), so I don't see what the problem is. With a good selection of cars and a decent online mode, it pretty well justifies its $40 price tag. Hell, I've already gotten more playtime out of it than I have out of some $60 games

1) By definition its not, but by that definition, I guess apples and oranges grow on the same trees.

2) developers would beg to differ.

3) Your point being? the highest grossing GT title was GT3 (14 mil) while GT4 is still selling (currently at 10.4 mil). There is no other racing title (simulator or otherwise) that comes close. GT 5 Prologue has sold nearly as much copies as full released titles in the same genre. Stop hating.

Well, youve just owned yourself. The game is $20 cheaper than full games (priced at $40 compared to 60). If you live somewhere where games are more expensive, than its still a 1/3 cheaper than full priced ones. Face it, youve been owned by everybody in this thread. No never once said why its overpriced, ignored the fact that content wise it matches 'full games'. Gt5 proper will be a MASSIVE game, and it will make all racing sims look overpriced in comparison, not just the prologue

The main point that made me not buy it was that the cars dont get damaged. Realistic damage modeling has been done in racing games for years. I dont get it.

ummm. no. surface damage has been done for years. Realistic damage model has NEVER been done. If Gran Turismo 5 could do it and not SURFACE DAMAGE like GRID, or TOCA or the like, It would be phenomenal. Currently the feel of the car it really good especially in cockpit view.

I hope you people know that a collision at 30 - 60 miles per hour can total cars.

Note theyre are still updating Prologue. also they take user comments to make the game better, like online has greatly improved since its released. Theyre still adding more to GT-TV also.

Do you even know how much content is in this game? GT5 Prologue is even bigger then Need for speed. and Motor storm plus online racing. This is not a demo.

1)It's a demo

2)Beta it's a "fancy" word for demo.

3)Highest GROSSING franchises...Isn't "highest growing franchises"??

1) By definition its not, but by that definition, I guess apples and oranges grow on the same trees.

2) developers would beg to differ.

3) Your point being? the highest grossing GT title was GT3 (14 mil) while GT4 is still selling (currently at 10.4 mil). There is no other racing title (simulator or otherwise) that comes close. GT 5 Prologue has sold nearly as much copies as full released titles in the same genre. Stop hating.

OWNED

I can't see how was i "owned" but ok....

And i'm not hating...I'm just saying it's stupid to buy a 60$ demo and i don't care about the cars or the sells it's overpriced...

I agree, over priced demo. Who pays for a freakn' demo? I've never bought a game just for a demo. I'm not so wasteful with money I guess. It would have to be a game I actually want, the demo included would just be a bonus.

let me tell you a story.

when I was a kid, I liked lamborghini's a lot, so when I saw lamborghini 64 I had to have it. that full priced game had 3 levels, 3 cars, and the multiplayer mode had no bots and was foggy as hell. I played the hell out of it.

now, what were you saying about GT5: Prologue being an overpriced demo?

Yes, it's a demo that should be free. No way I'm buying a demo with that price.

I don't recall such popularity around GT4 Prologue...

he wasnt owned.. a demo isnt a slice from a finished product.. you always see "this is still a demo, some game aspects might differ from the final product". a beta and a demo are the same thing.. i dont care what devs beg for. and your comparison with apples and oranges was in the best case ridiculous.

If it gets delayed to Q3/4 2009 (or later), I'll buy the Prologue. If not, I can wait.

3-9 old posts? omfg.. am i the one stating "We'll I'm glad your NOT a developer. OKAY JR." after i just presented facts and proved my point.. lol ridiculous and childish. anyway do i have to repeat myself.. you seem to dont understand.. the definition of demo isnt "Doesnt receive updates". it only received updates cause it was an overrated demo that people had to pay for. you my friend, are a Fail.

(note: no grudge against gt5.. it IS the best racing game.. but i am commenting prologue..)
