i never go out of my way to get a trophy. I know it adds replay value but if you were going to play it again you don't need a trophies o do it again. like with mgs4. i have beaten that game at least 10 times and there are no trophies. so i was wondering why people go out of their way for trophies?
To show how big their E-pen!$ is. JK ;). Yeah, basically to show off how well they did in a particular game. But some people take it too seriously, there are some people that will not buy a game if there is no trophy support.
They probably get a sense of satisfaction from earning trophies. Adds replay value as well. I don't care for them much, but they are fun to get when you're aren't expecting them.
Trophies can be good, in that it means developers can add things to the game that will get you to try to do.. eg: specific stunts, find objects etc.. it adds to the amount of time you will spend with the game, and that isn't bad. As for bragging rights.. who really cares what other people have in terms of trophies? I haven't even looked up once what i have. But then i've only just bought my second game that has trophies. Out of 10 games, only 2 i own have trophy support. They are fun to get, but thats it.
I was like you, when the psn didn't have any trophies. Then after I received my first trophy I started itching for more, it's addicting for people who are perfectionists, who just need to have the game 100% completed. I haven't platinumed any game yet but I am trying to get my first on killzone.
if u dont like em thats great, i do love em, like hearing that ping when u have done something. dont really like the trophies u get that u cant avoid, like finishing lvl ones. but i do like the special things, like in dead space some of the special kills on the air vent things, or doing stuff under a certain time in k2. its great to see that u have done something "special". otherwise it makes no real differnce. trophies also help in seeing what other games ppl have. i check out ppls trophies list on my friends list so i can ask them if they wanna play something. works pretty well, and that PING. oh how i love it

most games have like hidden items anyway and now you get a trophy for it and i don't think anyone really cares what level trophy they are. Also who has replayed a game just for some trophies?
