because we have yet to experience a game that is even close to being as good. the question should be, why shouldn't you want it?justifythegame
Maybe it's that FF is ov3r hyped? I mean honestly... Doesn't the fan boy basis just shine through their mudane life with the obssesion of FF and the idea of being a 16 year old super hero? All Japanese media is over hyped. So along with the idea that they want it, it's more as they need it. And I being that most think FF is the best saga, that is their oppinion to the extent of their free mind. MGS4 was, and is "a game that is beyond good". If you haven't played a game close to being good, then you haven't played MGS4.
its really all about the story... its very deep and well thought out. I will admit, my first few play throughs i just tried to beat it fast, but i then started to pay attention to the story and it really hit me.
If they do remake this game, its basically gonna have to be worked from the ground up (i know there will be people who dont want anything to change but graphics, but i for one think the battle and lvl'ing system needs to be revamped), so it will take a while to create... all they have to go on is the story
Not sure how trust-worthy is Playstation Lifestyle. But....

Oh please. America is the center of hype, specifically in the entertainment sector. This is the country where PS3s were selling for $10,000 on the release day on Ebay because of hype. This is the country where people got shot over PS3s and people got MGS4 bundles stolen. This is the country where Grand Theft Auto IV sells ridiculous amounts of copies and gets straight 10s from every website despite the fact that probably didn't deserve perfect 10s (I'm not bashing, I love the game). The country where there is so much hype around superhero movies that movie companies can afford to spend $500 million making movies like Spider-man 3 and still see a profit purely from hype.
So please stop bashing him about how we're all fanboys if we like Final Fantasy so much. I loved Metal Gear Solid 4. I loved Final Fantasy VII more. Deal with it and let people want a remake. plz.
As to the topic...
I only want a remake if they are going to stay true to an EXACT remake. A perfect remake in the graphics they showed off years ago or perhaps Advent Children graphics (which SE claims the White Engine is capable of, real time). I don't want another sequel or for them to mess with and change the game. Keep the legend the same.
A FFVII remake would be nice but Sony and Square Enix are running out of resources. They're working on multiple huge titles as it is which will just push FF13 and FF13 versus further behind. Asking SE to make another game would mean a huge slow down in their production. I think it's safe to say, FF fans have waited long enough. FF VII can friggin wait.Elann2008
Well FFXIII is almost done...the PS3 version is pretty much DONE...just not the 360 one from what I understand. But after that, a lot of manpower should free up.

Maybe your right. But I wasn't bashing him. But I am bashing the ideals of people who recyle the same lame idea over and over. If your telling me that EVERY single person has lost a sense of moderation and I'm suppose to accept that please I don't agree with anything like that period. I don't obsess over anything like that where I see people wish they could live lifes they could never have because they can't cope with the simplicity of being human. You like MGS4 but you like FF VII more thats all good up to your standards. But if you want to tell me I have to sit and read 30 daily post about people crying about FFVIII leaving Ps3 or how they want a remake of FFVI is repetative and just showing that the voice of the people crying we need it because it's something we need is about as needed as the production line of cars being made with an estimated 23 MPG on 1000's of '09 cars like thats really "a fuel efficient car".
I understand. I honestly am just in a weird mood now. And I hope Sony hears these thousands of calls of distress...
But FFVII has a special place in my heart and that's the main reason. It was the game that got me into gaming in general.

There will always be that one game. But for me, learning that 300 hours of Oblivion was retarded, moderation is best. People over hyping things will make things lame. Just enjoy it and enjoy all the good games that come out. I'm just sad to see that most people don't accept change that well. Generally because they have been let down. But how will we evolve? With out change, America would still be a crappy place. I mean it's crappy now, but not as crappy as it would have been for change.

True true. Well I was incredibly hyped for the Dark Knight, but this announcement blew the midnight showing of that movie out of the water. Maybe the movie will be better now :).

KrazyC18
Gold saucer date with Advent Children graphics Tifa is the wet dream of 90% of the people who want a remake.
The other 10% are the people who were too young/did not play the original for Playstation in 1997.

Its not over hyped if everybody wants it.
its because FF7 is terrible today...
though people say its graphics were revolutionary, it was not even great, especially when you compare it to a 96 game called Resident Evil. so its graphics were not even so great at its time, only movies were great but movies are not the graphics you were playing with...
terrible midi quality that kills the beauty of musics...
dated random encounters... it kills the fun nowadays...
so FF7 needs a remake to stay as a good game...
also a remake can save SE from bankruptcy. why do you think they agree FFXIII on 360 ?
so if they make a remake, they will be saved. if they make FF7 Remake on PS3, PS3 will be saved...
The PS3 wont merely be saved. It will become the God of current gaming consoles.its because FF7 is terrible today...

yea well i was planning to say " System Wars will be over with obvious win"
I too don't understand remakes (even in movies). Just play it again on it's original system! Having a better graphics would not make it a better game.
Playing the original form of the game is more fun than playing the remake version. Nothing beats originals! Hehe!
IMO...remakes should be EXACTLY the same, nothing enhanced.
Imagine the game in advent children style. This game is too precious for them to touch the battle system or story, they know this.
But other things wouldn't hurt, like the ability to ride Clouds motorbike when on the world map. Trophies for things people seem to miss like getting arises final limit, little details.
Reasons for an FFVII remake. Well, it was a pretty good game. It would be sweet with the huge graphical update to make the experience even more emersive. And the translation wasn't the best. They could make the story more comprehendable the first time around instead of needing to either play again or research online.zenerik
I'd love to see a FF7 or a FF8 remake. But honestly, I think it's kind of like Star Wars (well, depends on your age). For those of us who saw it in theatres, we probably thought it was great and were looking forward to the prequels. And then the prequels were so-so and then you watch the old ones again and they're good...but not as great as you remember them. I played Crisis Core and it was good...but not as great as I remember it (I mean the world of Midgar).
I think a FF7/8 remake would be great for the people who have never played it. If you wait long enough, there will be enough of those people that will sell the product. I guess Square hasn't waited enough just yet?
