If you have downloaded games that would just make your psp games more portable. 8)

People like hard copies and solid objects, not digital items.
But I see your point of being more portable. :)
Another reason is if they already have a psp with games, they'd want to be able to play the UMD games they've already bought.

Thats my reason. I do prefer hard copies. But if i could only download then i would.
I've got several beefs with getting rid of UMD's. As another poster has said, I don't want the games I own to be worthless on the new console, and I'd rather not have to carry around 2 consoles. I also don't want to have to buy several memory sticks. Even at 16 gigs, I'd need several.
If there were some way to exchange my current games for the new media format I would be more comfortable with the switch.
Getting a new game would depend entirely on having an internet connection not going kablooey during the middle of a download - by no means a certainty. Also, there's the memory issue. I bought a 4GB memory stick with my PSP, and downloading Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror has taken up about half of that. I don't want to be shelling out for a new memory stick every time I want to buy one or two new games.
i'm just afraid if all the games has to be downloaded, sony would be the monopoly and we can't like pick up cheap games n stuff.gamer_sammyThis is my reason, as well. I buy my PSP games for $10 or less used. New, most decent games are $20. Digital distribution puts used game sites like Amazon and eBay out of business in the PSP market. When they can't sell used games anymore, then I end up paying more because I have to buy everything "new." Plus, not only to I have to pay more for the game, but I'm also responsible for supplying the storage medium. I'm sorry, but no thanks.
Well, if it does happen I hope it has alot of internal memory. The download thing works great with Apples ipod/iphone (probably where sony got the idea), but those games are only a few bucks and take up very little room. I actually like the download only thing with the ipod because the games are so cheap, I'm not to sure about buying a $40 game that is download only though

I'm confused so does that mean that you downlaod of your computer after paying? So what happens if my internet goes out I would not be able to get the game. Srry but UMD is better for me.
A) I like hard copies of games.
B) It would make my entire library of UMD's worthless.
C) Sony WOULD monopolize so you wouldn't ever see the games in a store, or at a cheaper price as they age.
D) How many memory sticks would I need to buy?
E) For everybody without an internet connection it would screw them out of games, because no internet = no downloading.
F) If Sony thinks piracy is killing UMD, just wait for digital downloads. Ha everybody is gonna be pirating files.
G) Sony needs to quit releasing a new system every year, its getting ridiculous.
Imma have to agree with about everyone on here. I don't want to waste a bunch of space because a game takes up like one gig of memory. If I want to play a new game and don't have the memory, then i have to take off the current game and then transfer/download the new one i just got. It's a time wasting hassle. Some people have crappy internet. and there for slower downloading. Switching a UMD for a UMD is a lot more hassle free and a lot less time consuming.
If Sony were to go full digital, they'd prolly have their own "iTunes" to manage your games with. Swapping games would be as easy as syncing an iPod. On top of that, Sony will most likely continue to lower the prices of their MS' as it gets cheaper to make them. If they were to do such a thing, they'd have everything thought out before doing so rather than blindly culling customers. There's nothing to worry about.

Well stated. Removing the UMD drive is a slap in the face by Sony to those like myself who own over 20 UMD games.
Here's an random idea - for those people who insist that "better games" require "more memory," I'm sure Sony can develop a revamped UMD via Hi-MD style if they wanted. For those unaware, Sony's MiniDisc (MD) format (150ish MB) was upgraded to Hi-MD (1GB) with all new MD players backwards compatible. The UMD is largely influenced by the MD (same company afterall) so I'm sure the technology exists to produce "HD" UMDs.
I agree with most of the reasons:
I like having a hard copy and a pretty case to go with it.
Also I buy most of the psp games used or on bargain bins, I mean paying 35 bucks or so for God of War seems like too much for a pretty short game but paying 15 bucks for it sounds like a fair deal to me.
Finally there's the situation with the storage, how would they manage that? Buying many cards doesnt seem logical and if u have all the games in your pc then u cant take them all with u on the go so its not as portable as I would wish..
Besides those points I wouldnt be too mad If they choose another format for the psp2 as long as its physical and not only digital, it would still have the compatibility issues but anyway Im not sellin' my psp so I could play my old games on it..
keep ur old psp to play them no i mean u know the other handheld doesnt have gba slot and people went crazy xD[QUOTE="Mr_Tonylope"]

The DSi not having a GBA slot isn't really a good comparison. Not many people would've bought a DS to play GBA games (well not as many as the ones who bought it to play DS games). Plus DSi's can still play DS games you may have already bought.
But if the rumour is true and the PSP Go! can't play UMD PSP games already purchased, it would probably make a few people a bit dissatisfied.
