Why do some people think that LBP is for kids?

yeah its the truth... some people are shallow when it comes to games... but as for me when it comes to Japanese RPGs and stuff I really can't stand the lil kids you play as especially when they sound like lil 8 year old kids going "Yay we won!" or some crap like that... Shame because Eternal Sonata is a pretty cool game from what I can tell but I just can't stand how everyone in the game looks like they're 12 and the one kid with the gun annoys me to Death!

But LBP looks AWESOME! and the beta was awesome so i want it!

I played the beta and its too difficult for kids. They could do simple things but anything beyond one moving part would be beyond them imo.

Its a great game, those who wont play it for being kiddy are probably not very confident and are self conscious.

I'm not saying that LBP is not for kids. I think this game is for everyone, not just for kids like what others think. Kids can play this too, but they will have a hard time.

I will start off by saying I am not a fan of LBP and don't plan on buying it. Why?

Because it's for kids!

What I would mean specifically - just like Nintendo as an entire corporation...

They have their place and if an adult wants to play a kids game then - cool - have fun. However a game that incorporates goofy (childish) looking characters with no objective involving adult themes or goals - is going to be labeled a kids game.

That doesn't mean you should feel weird for playing it.

Lots of people love Mario or Zelda - and those are DEFINITELY kids games too.

All of this is completely opinion of course - however I think it's easy to see the difference between games like a Mario class game or a Resistance/Gears of War class game. And the difference is not only the genre of games but the subject matter dealt with. Is it all fluffy and dressed up for the innocent mind like Mario? Or is it down and dirty closer to reality like Resistance?

Anyway - just pick up and play what you want - who cares what types of labels people put on a game. If you like it - PLAY it!

This game is supposed to be fun and appealing to a wide range of ages. It might appear to look like a childs game, but there are somethings that make it more fun for teenagers and adults alike.

Examples would be: Sackzilla (you can download this video onto your PS3 via Playstation Store) and the safari tank.

True, some children at a certain age point will not be able to cope with the massive grind of creating a level. And I am pretty sure parents should not be buying PS3s for children who are not capable of handling a game like LBP.

All in all, this is not a children's game. Like another guy said, Nintendo appears to have child-like games but it was created to enterain a wide variety of people and families.

If you think it is childish, rent it. Even after renting if you still believe the game is too childish, then it is not our fault that you did not have a proper childhood. So stop complaining.

If you are going to buy it, then buy it. If not, then stop complaining. The world does not revolve around you. :o

Because it looks childish. I thought beta was a blast, but who are you trying to kid? (get it?) It's obvious why some people think that LBP is for kids: it looks childish.
