It wasthe first time that I actually felt like I was watching a summer blockbuster movie and playing an awesome game at the same time. The level of quality of the story, gameplay, graphics, animations, character development, and AI was nothing short of excellent.
Sure, if you take apart each aspect of this game and evaulate them separately, you might say that it's good, not great. But this game epitomizes the phrase "the whole is greater than the sum of its parts." Few other games can stand on the same level as Uncharted in this category.
The whole package is a great piece of work. I loved the swarms of enemies that I had to carefully pick apart one by one, some of the puzzles and platforming challenges thrown at me, the summer-blockbuster-typestory (even with the twist at the end which helped to change up the gameplay a lot), with Drake as ordinary-guy-turned-hero and an appropriate cast of well-developed supporting characters as well.
The second and third playthroughs were just an enthralling as the first for me - another thing I can say about only a select few games. All in all, this is why many gamers appreciate Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.
