I put it in for the first time on my PS3 and an HDTV but it looks horrible. Doesn't look bad on the SD I have. Can someone tell me why it does this?

Well....if you are using component cables, of cousre it looks horrible. Try HDMI or composite cables.

I think he meant to say composite cables.  If you are using composite, then try component or hdmi

I don't actually know why and I'm not sure how/if it can be remedied, but I've found that PS2 games in general look a LOT better on my SDTV with component cables than on my parents' HDTV with HDMI cables. Although, I played RE4 on their TV and it didn't look anywhere near as bad as I expected.

Maybe its because these games are made to be played on SDTV? Im just taking a guess here tho ....
I also recently bought this game and i found it had a lot of jaggies even on my regular tv.

The best remedy for all of this until SONY gets their act together on better BC? Just play your ps2 games on the ps2 for now. I understand that this defeats the purpose of BC, but hey...you want it to look good right?

I recently bought GoW from Wal-Mart for only $20. Excited, I ran home to play my new game on the PS3 only to be mortified by how horrible it looks on it. I tried it using HDMI connection on a 32inch Polaroid LCD, and a 42 inch Panasonic plasma, and it looks like pimpled ass.

So if I want to play it while going OOH and Ahhh, I will be using the PS2 for PS2 games for now.

The scaling of a 480 game to 720 or 1080 stretches the image in a way that it wasn't meant to be stretched, therefore the game looks worse.

I cant tell a difference....

And on GOW2, did you do progressive scan? If so, did you do the HD mode cheat?

Why are people so misinformed? Any PS2 games looks ugly on HDTV's because the games are not made for HDTVs. Even if you hook up your PS2 to your HDTV, it'll look exactly the same as it is with a PS3. The PS2 games are made for SDTVs and thus it looks better on that. Stop blamming on the PS3 when you are the one that is misinformed and spoiled by HD contents.

Well at least there's nothing wrong with my TV, I guess I'll just wait till an update to play it on my HD.
