why does my PS3 smell like its ON FIRE???

....got it used yesturday....and its got my Whole Room smelling like Log Fire :l is this NORMAL for a ps3?? i can understand heating alil....but iv never experienced a console that smells like its ROASTING WOOD....i took out my Yakuza 3 disc from the console and it smelld like it was ON FIRE....

Did you check to verify that your PS3 was not in fact on fire? :P

highly possible that smell is dust burning inside your ps3.

You might have burnt out the flux compacitor

Open it up, maybe there is a piece of package inside thats burning.

got it from Gamestop yesturday...and i highly doubt the machine is actually On Fire O_O but it sure smells like it from time to time...

i did not think of that, you could be right, it was probably sitting around in storage a while....plus alot of dust seems to collect in this room. the smell has died down since yesturday...and the thing works perfectly...but just picks up the smell when it starts to heat up alil. also gets Very Hott, my 360 doesnt even get this hott. i had to put my mini fan on it to cool it down...

I think thats the plastic popping , mixed in with the heat and plastic sorta melting so to speak just get some air freshner man.

Well, since it's a ventilated console. It was probably in a fire before. Much like if you were to buy a used PS3 from a cigarette smoke filled place, you'd probably smell ciagrettes. Smoke sticks to things. You can either take it back to be exchanged, or open it up and clean it yourself.

Huh that's weird, mine smells of Lynx dark temptation. Seriously it got like infinity f*****g bajillion gurlz
