Why does Ninja Gaiden series feel like a copycat of Shinobi ps2?

I just got shinobi for ps2 and play it yesterday. Wow, it feels like Ninja Gaiden, only this game came before NG.

I played it some more and notice NG may have better graphics cause it came later but Shinobi was much more cooler. Like how the foes' body parts get chopped up. Or how they freeze for a few seconds after you killed them. So you can kill like 5 ninja in 3-5 seconds and then they all die together. Very cinematic and really adds to the game experience. Even the quick flashes that allow you to move with lightning speed makes NG looks like an amateur. Then there is running along the walls too.

Yes, I have both games. NG is a great nonetheless but it seems like Shinobi is just better except for the graphics cause it is an older game.

DISCUSS.

Is Shinobi fun? Because I was looking into getting another ninja like game after playing NGS. Shinobi was suggested by many on the PS2 boards. From what I've heard it is extremely hard.

I like ninja games. So to me, Shinobi is fun so far. I have played through the entire game yet so I can't say. But NG is also known to be hard. Well, if you like ninja games, it doesn't cost that much anymore. I got my used. You can find them on ebay or amazon or ebgames

Ok guys, I'll show my age but here it goes.... Original Ninja Gaiden was on the NES (the first nintendo) and Shinobi was originally on the Sega Genesis. I doubt either is a copy of the other.

Both console games originally were on Sega Master System and came out the same year, 1988. Ninja Gaiden made it's way over to NES the following year. Ninja Gaiden was released in the arcade as well... I THINK before the SMS version.

Shinobi is by far the HARDEST game I have played on the PS2. Good luck in your quest for completion.

Maybe. I didn't have trouble...besides falling into water. The main reason NG is my choice---replayability. A game can only go so far when the same thing happens as the pinnacle of its entertainment value.

shinobi was impossibly hard...but an awesome game nonetheless. NG is still pretty cool tho....its a lot faster overall as opposed to shinobis "momentary" quickness when u run into a couple of enemies.

Shinobi is a really great game IMHO. It was hard though. Once you get the stealth dash attacks down, it really satisfies, especially when you can do it to multiple enemies in mid-air. If you like Shinobi, I also recommend Nightshade, the sequel to shinobi.

shinobi was not hard at all....just learn how to play it, best is when you charge up acojicki (can't spell it, but its an ugly name) IMO shinobi was a let down as i grew up on the sega shinodi's which imo are better then Ninja gaiden. As for the ps2 and xbox shinobi and NG, gotta give it to ninja gaiden as shinobi ps2 totally blew.

nonetheless its a pretty challenging game and once you get the hang of it, it can be pretty fun, the its so repetative it can get boring.

and....Hatsuma is way cooler and better character then Ryu...lol but both of there characters kinda suck so they're both not great to begin with.

Ninja Gaiden is the superior game, but Shinobi is still worth the $7 you can find it for on Ebay.

I never realized Sega had a system before the Genesis. That's nice to now but to really show my age the first system I owned was the Odyssey.

lol, I had a Magnavox Odyssey in my basement. It belonged to my parents. We've come a long way indeed. My first console was Intellivision.

They are similar in the fact that you're a ninja and the difficulty is insane...other than that, I wouldn't say it's a copycat....

The new NG and Shinobi are not similar in any way. Even wall running, which is featured in both games is extremely different. You are comparing apples to oranges, even within the same genre.
