I see the PS3 a lot like the Sega Saturn. I see Sony made a mistake on focusing on technology alone, and not on what makes a good game system, which is fun games to play. If I wanted to surf the net, I would buy a PC. If I wanted to watch blu ray movies, I would first have to buy an HDTV and also know I want to watch movies while someone else may want to play games. It is also really scary for me to drop $600.00 on a system, and there is still the risk that it goes the way of the Dreamcast or Saturn because of bad sales. Also I remember when CD players were 600.00, and don't want to feel cheated when I see blu-ray players for $99.99 in 2-3 years.
Also I am buying a system primary for my step brother to keep him off my computer. I like the Wii because he can play the game cube games, and also the old games I used to play. He likes Halo and the online shooters, and that is what I like about the 360 or PS3, but I hate the price and also the fact that I will have to buy him an HDTV to do that. If I am going to buy an HDTV, it is going in my room, or the living room.
That is why I am leaning towards a Wii. If they were available I would pick one up right now. I would like to buy a PS3 for MG4 and the FFs and the sports games, and a 360 for Halo 3 and Gears of War, but I think they are going to drop big in price. I remember PSX being over $400 when it came out in '94, and I picked one up in 96 for just $250.00. I am thinking about the first round of price drops, and then picking up a off of eBay for less.
