ill tell you why, because he fooled you. and here's how.
1.first of all blu- ray is not needed right now, but by september it will be.
reasons: tekken dark resurection is roughly 600MB and that game have a lot of CG cutscenes, while NGS demo is 1 gb and that DEMO has no CG cutcenes everything is rendered in realtime. now why is THAT? ill tell you because true nextgen games requires more space for textures, audio ect. as time passes games will indeed get bigger and there is a limit to how much you can compress and compressed audio is horrible.
2. Home will be an instant hit. ill admit that hated home at first, all i want to do is play online, but you have to admit that the idea when you have a clan and everybody is virtual and hanging out in the same room/lobby does sound fun, and plus its free so nobody will get hurt if they try it.
3. its not a sprint. even though PS3 sales arent that great it doesn't really hurt the console. its still getting great games and still has more AAA exclusive than any platform. its not how you start, its how you finish.
developers are using HDMi 1.2 specs even though the ps3 has HDMi 1.3, the ps3 does have a scaler and that also is not being used. its my guess that sony will be doing the same thing that he did with the psp, release a firmware update to give devs access to things
4. god of war 2 can stand up to any game on any platform, the gameplay is solid and the graphics are solid. my guess is that when the other consoles dies in 2008 and are replaced, ps3 games will be looking better and better and by then the user install base will be huge.
5.this gen is like no other, and sony's strategy is to not compete the same way they did last gen, they don't want to be force to release a new console every 5 years, with the ps3 being future proof, they can lay back and keep on cashing in while other companies are releasing new consoles. people shouldn't have to buy a new console every 5 years, it takes some games, 4 to 5 years to be made, so why shoul i buy game A on my ps2 and game B on my PS3?? if a console can indeed last 10 years developement cost for game B wouldn't have to be x million on another console just for a graphical upgrade.
ken was a visionary and planning for the future was his thing, the ps2 was prep for downloadable games even though his dreams didn't manifest, somehow he gave us a taste of what to come.
