[QUOTE="HideoFox"] Well, While the first game wasn't spectacular it was solid, just didn't live up to the halo killer hype it was labeled with. The second one got attention first because of the name and the follow through hype of the first title. Combine that with the ridiculous graphics they showed at E3 2005, followed by all the controversy about the trailer and then another good showing at E3 07 and the rumoured $21+ budget Sony is spending, and you get a lot of talking.
On top of that, it has such message board buzz because both camps (sony and MS) point to it as either a killer app or a massive flop. So it generates a lot of talk and therefore hype.

they spent 21 dollars?! they're gunna have to cut some stuff out then.
That put a smile on my face. lol.
Truth told, there isn't a lot of hype about the game. There is when new info hits but it quickly dies down. I'm personally excited to see what it's like...and I don't really like shooters (though there's not much else to play yet). Graphically, it's stunning, especially when you consider no one thought they'd come close to the pre-rendered animations shown when the game was first announced. The fact they managed to come so close- and in some ways surpass it - is a good sign they're doing all they can to not disappoint potential users. We'll see, I guess, but you can hardly say it's overhyped.
