Earlier this morning it was working fine, then by noon it made loud rumbling noises while playing games, and now when I play it, it will suddenly become quiet and freeze the game. It's a brand new system with the latest upgrades and I just bought it earlier this month. Can anyone help?, please.

Are you playing off a UMD? If so, check to make sure that the disc is still housed well in the plastic surround. If the case is rubbing the disc, that may be the trouble.

Probably the UMD. What type is your psp? 1000? 2000? 3000? Or PSP Go?

Yes, I'm playing on a UMD, but the disc seems fine. Right now, it won't even read the disc anymore, and the system is not making its usual noises when it's properly running, it's too quiet now.

Not very specific... Try looking at the disc drive and make sure there are no loose/broken parts. From experience with the 1000, discs can be improperly inserted, so make sure the disc clicks into place.

Do you only have the one game to try? Does the system work with another disc? Also, does the system at least boot to the menu page if it won't read a disc?
