I have an xbox and ps3 directly next to each other, one room away from the modem. I downloaded the gotham city imposters beta on xbox in 25 minutes. The starhawk beta on ps3 has been stuck on 1% for hours and has 700 minutes left. I constantly loose connection or get error message. Im not trying to start a xbox vs ps3 war, I just want to know why its so terrible.

Ps3 isnt so good wireless. Check your internet connect % and upload, download. It shouldnt be 1% for hours, maybe it froze. Try plugging it in to the modem.

I had my modem clear across the house and it was consistantly 55%- 60% connection, and it seemed to download faster than yours.

PS3 tends to download things a bit slower than xbox, but it shouldn't be THAT slow. It's most likely something causing interference with your WIFI reciever in your PS3 and your modem. I suggest turning your PS3 off and reset your router and modem then do an internet connection test on your PS3 to see what NAT you get (2 is the one you want) and the estimated time it takes to download data. You can also do a dierct connection if that's an option, that should make it faster.

In terms of lag and disconnects, well that's based purely upon your internet connection speed and the host connection. That's it. Nothing to do with PSN or the PS3 it'self.

Can you get a physical cable over to the PS3? My PS3 is literally two feet from my router but I get a garbage connection wirelessly. I'm not saying it's fantastic when it's connected by wire, but I'll accept taking an hour to download a gigabyte rather than five.
