I get that MS get's no profit from it, however why are they not as first party developers giving the PS3 an exclusive. That should be their priority, Sony knows what a big role exclusives play in what platform gamers choose to buy. And maybe somewhere this game will be the deciding factor in somebody not buying a PS3 as in:"this is on the PC, so why do I need a PS3?". It just seems like a shortsighted business decision, in the short term we'll make some more profit off the game which we invested maybe 15 million in, but in the long run we may be hurting sales of a sytem which we spent billions on.espoac
It's prett simple:
For one, PCs are not a microsoft platform, they only run on MS XP or VISTA. In addition, by making a game for pc, they arn't exactly losing a potential PS3 buyer since almost everyone owns a PC, whereas if it was on the 360 people would have the choice of buying either console.Â
Spiderman 3 came out for 360. Could have easily been an exclusive.ocelotcougaryeah that's a bit of a puzzler. Why in the hell would Sony ever give the movie game rights for 1,2 or 3 to Activison instead of their own game studio? I say blame it on Kutaragi, the crazy old kook! J/K
The answer is simple : If you make a PC game that cannot be run on a MS OS, then your profit will never be higher than the development cost.
SCEA has made games for PC for years, why should they stop?Â

PC softwares are different than consoles. The devs of a software that can only run on PC do not have anything to pay to the owners of the OS. Anyone can make software for windows without having to ask MS. There's like 1000 more softwares for windows than games on the PS2, so it would be way too much of a problem for MS to give permission to each of those, and sue those who didn't.

With The Agency's recent announce for PC, I got to wondering. Why is SOE, a Sony subsidiary making games for what is in essence a Microsoft platform? Especially at a time when their new system on which they've plunked down billions of dollars really needs good exclusive games? Seems a bit counter-intuitive...espoacMicrosoft just happens to have a Operating System that alot of people use for their computers, so it's not a big deal. Microsoft doesn't own or make comuters (Dell, HP make computers etc.) Microsoft is more of a software based company, so your title is very misleading, I would go as far to say purposefully done!
SOE =/= SCE. Also, it is not like they are helping MS by releasing a game for Windows. It's not like someone will buy a computer/Windows just to play a SOE game.

Activision own the video game rights to anything Spider-Man related which includes the movies and as such determines what platforms they'll make it for.Â

same as surfs up lol ... but i can see why money is more important then exclusive game in thsi case
Sony doesn't have the total rights to the spiderman franchise. Marvel still owns that and they dictate who can make the game. Sony only owns the rights to the movie. albyx
yes and when the game is about the movie sony owns the right to that game
