1080i? or 1080p? Cuz I know 360 can't produce 1080p quality on it's games. KamuiFei
Simply just 1080i? If you look on the back of the PS3 games alot of them are not available in any type of 1080. Seems like such a waste in really GREAT hardware if you ask me.

Yea, I understand what you mean, PS3's hardware is more than capable to make 1080p quality, but most devs simply can't harnass that power quite yet. Games I have that can produce 1080p is CoD4 and Ninja Gaiden Sigma, all my others are only 720p/ 1080i.

The 360 can output 1080p since the fall update. Most games are upscaled to that resolution though. Virtua Tennis 3 is native 1080p for both PS3 and 360. I think there are a couple of other games also
The 360 does not display 1080, atleast not natively. For example, Halo 3 was 640p, Bungie just upscaled it to 720p. COD4 is only 600p.
Why do resolutions matter anyway? I never knew console wars turned into a battle for highest resolution.
720p???1080i for most games anyway.Duckman5
No, 720p is a resolution that doesn't burn out your TV, so in fact 1080 shouldn't even be used to game if you don't want to wear your tv out faster, but people don't realize that and I laugh at them.

Some games to run in 1080p Native on PS3. True 1080p is only attained via HDMI cable. Games like The Darkness is native 1080p. Games like COD4 have upscale compatibilty to 1080p. ALot of PSN games play in native 1080p (FLow, Bowling, etc..)

LOL...do you know that regular dvd's can only produce 480p?? so what you are saying about 360 games producing 1080i is not true....because the xbox360 can go on 1080p but you need hd-dvd to produce 1080p....at least from what i've heard its like this..lazzy102
That's not true at all. You can get 1080p resolution on a DVD, but there isnt a lot of space to work with. This is why you get very short campaigns from 360 games, and almost all of them have some sort of online component to keep the player interested. Also, if you are putting 1080p on DVD9, you pretty much always have to compress the audio.

I don't think The Darkness does it natively. I know NBA 08 does, not that it matters because the game is subpar but almost every game does not display it natively. Most fail to do even 720, they are just upscaled.
Although I still don't know why it matters. Who cares about resolutions, let's just play the games.

Yeah looks like it, Darkness is no 1080p native.
It's not even 720p... its upscaled.....
Anyway.. I know Bowling is 1080p damnit!
The games on 360 that are "1080i" or "1080p" usually aren't rendered in that resolution, just upscaled from a lower resolution. However, they choose to list the resolution anyway. Most second generation PS3 games will upscale to 1080i for people that have HDTVs that don't support 720p. However, they don't list it on the back of the box since it's basically lieing and seeing the game is displaying at a resolution that it's really just being upscaled to. Case in point, Uncharted and Call of Duty 4. Both will render in 720p, but will be upscaled to 1080i if 720p isn't available.
hahah yea dont watch blu-ray or the near dead hddvd either cause ur tv will die.

[QUOTE="Dawson82"]ok,ut3 and r&c are 720,but when i run them on 1080p my bravia shows them 1080p,im not complaining,but wthdstryr13

Ummmm, name one game that is exclusive to the 360 that is short because of it being on a DVD? Mass Effect is long, Oblivion is long and they are both on the 360. Heavenly Sword was a PS3 game, on Blu Ray and it was a short game, so is Uncharted and Ratchet & Clank. I don't get your statement.

yeah and he's saying that Oblivion is X360 exclusive lolLordReithgar
Not at all. I'm stating that Oblivion and Mass Effect are both on 360 and they are long games. Perhaps my first sentance was confusing because I mentioned exclusive, but the next sentance is merely there to say long games are on 360 as well and DVDs have nothing to do with it.
