PS3 had the poorest reception with The Orange Box, so it was probably better for Valve to focus on the XBOX 360 and PC versions, plus, programming for both the DirectX API and OpenGL API is alot more costly and time consuming...Thats not to say it mightn't come in the future...
ooooh, so the orange box was ported by EA. i just read in a website that valve said in a MICROSOFT event that it is not coming on the ps3. i guess they sold out to microsoft... I mean not liking ps3 is just Jazzzzz...

well Gabe newell is a ex microsoft employee and he is head of valve so that explains it. though a rep said its not fully crossed out for the ps3 but even it did get released it be next year. i however might get it for a christmas present maybe. thought demo was ok, funny with some friends.

Funny you quote that particular article, because just 2 days after it was posted Kotaku posted another article with a complete denial from Valve's Doug Lombardi (VP of marketing) that a PS3 version was in production: http://kotaku.com/5033106/ps3-left-out-of-left-4-dead.
I wouldn't necessarily call them crybabies if they don't want to develope a game for a certain consoles. There are a few third party companies thats just comfortable making games for 1 console and not the either. Bungie is one now that probably will only make games for microsoft just as long as microsoft can play nice with them. Insomanic and Naughty are 2 other companies thats just comfortable making games for 1 console and not the other. Would you call these companies crybabies?
The reason the Orange Box didn't recieve a good welcome on the PS3 is because it was inferior to the other platforms so I just stayed away from it... However, I honestly prefer it on the 360 mainly because non of my friends play the PS3 and Left4Dead is a game that's only fun WITH friends... I havn't put it down since I got it on Friday.
Well according to the neest volume of gameinformer ther will be a left 4 dead on the ps3 it will not be a port it will be a completely new game Mclovin02
That's very interesting. Not sure if that will be good or bad since the current version is doing so well - a "new" version will hopefully be just as good.

Either Valve thinks it's a waste of time to develop on the PS3, or Microsoft just gave them a truck load of cash to make it a 360 and PC exclusive. There's still some chances of it coming to the PS3 though, don't lose hope :P

Yes, I have played The Orange Box & the Original Half-Life, Enjoyed them very much so. im just saying that they have been getting lazy that's all.

No cause they haven't complained and sooked about the other console. They just get on with their work. Both Bungie and Insomniac have mentioned that they'd consider the other platforms in the future and if they do I'm sure they would take some time to learn the architecture. Instead of expecting to be so simple as working on the other.
i would rather not having it on PS3 f it is as the same level of the other bad ported games( which was gonna happen, and PS3 is having a blast from criticism of the bad ports ), so get it on pc like some1 said.
it cost more and takes more time to make ps3 games, its also harder for developers to work with it, this is because blu ray and the cell processer are very complex compared to the 360 and PC

While I'm always skeptical of scans found on the Internet, it really wouldn't surprise me if this game hit the PS3 within the next year. As far as the denial a day or two later, Valve said there was currently no L4D in production for PS3... that statement doesn't cover any more ground that the similar statement Ken Levine made about Bioshock for PS3. I wouldn't call anything confirmed on this, but I'd say it's likely that if the game does really well and there's a reasonable amount of hype to it, it will get ported. And if it doesn't, I didn't think the demo was too amazing or anything, though it's a really cool idea.
On another note, I also predict a Dead Rising port to PS3 and maybe Mass Effect.

The point is you seem to claim that Valve has made crappy games since Half-Life. In a later post, you claim to have enjoyed The Orange Box (consisting of Half-Life 2, HL2: Ep 2, HL2: Ep 3, Team Fortress 2, and Portal). Also, I didn't like the L4D demo, but after burying half of my free time in Gears 2's Horde mode, and my buddy extolling the virtues of COD: WaW's Zombie mode, I think the love child of these awesome experiences would be something very close to L4D. I can't wait to try out the final product. Don't be haters.
Its cause valve is a PC based company so they only like making games for PCs. Sony was lucky to get the Orange Box and the only reason that the 360 got Left 4 for Dead is because it was made by Microsoft.Â
Valve themselves are brilliant, I just wish they could move past there stigma of gaming systems.
