Its about a week away and looks great to me. Here's some info. From IGN:" It surprised a lot of people when LucasArts announced that its next edition of Star Wars Battlefront would be coming exclusively to PSP, but given that it's the number two-selling title on the entire platform, it makes total business sense. Having that kind of status means that Battlefront is no longer a port of a console original either -- this time it has been built from the ground up and it shows.

Just take a look at the game's focus on multiplayer for proof. Meant to take advantage of the PSP's WiFi and infrastructure features, Renegade Squadron supports up to 16 players online and eight without it. What's more enticing, though, is what you can do with that technology. There are 20 different maps to wage war over, including redesigned favorites like Hoth, Geonosis, Mos Eisley, Bespin, and Endor, while all-new stages based on Korriban and Sullust have been thrown in for good measure. There are a number of different modes to sample on these maps too. When we played, we used the ****c deathmatch option, but an improved Galactic Conquest mode, and a new "Hero Capture the Flag" option and CTF and Conquest (both single and team versions) are in there too. Sadly, there won't be any downloadable content going forward but the game does boast a player customization system that keeps things interesting for a good long while.

In actuality, the customization element could be Renegade Squadron's most attractive feature. Meant to level the playing field for everyone, it gives every player a 100-point limit from which to a build a character with. Adjustments made to eight different categories (Weapon 1, Weapon 2, Explosive, Special, Power-up, Health, Speed, and Agility) use the 100 points dependant on your kit. So if one guy would rather use a standard blaster and turn his speed or health attributes all the way up he can do that. If someone would prefer to equip himself with a heavier assortment of weapons without stat boosts, they can do that tooIn total, there are more than a million different combinations to be made in conjunction with a character's customizable aesthetics, which include the ability to choose your race, outfit, insignia, and plenty more.

Other cool features planned for the final release include leaderboards and player stats, new weapons like the tri-shot pistol, orbital strike, and carbonite freeze gun, and a unique single-player mode that boasts eight ground and three space maps. The best news of all, though, is that Renegade Squadron handles a whole lot better than the PSP version of Battlefront 2 did. It's much easier to target now and characters run around the screen at a much better clip. Granted, there are some weird collision issues going on with structures (it is sometimes hard to discern where a wall ends and another begins), but development is still early and the plan is to have most of the tech issues fixed up by release."

Oh. There's hype. It's just that this month the hype is being split between 5 games (Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow, Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron, FFT: The Lion War, Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness, Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles)

it's sad:( but there usually isn't alot of hype or marketing for PSP game. Sure you here alot about the games here on the site and other sites like ign, pspfanboy. But there isnt any mass media hype ...... Sony really need to get on the ball ... new slim model psp tons of great games but little to no hype or public marketing. Sony better start spending some of that PS3 marketing budget on the PSP, sales would really take off .
