why people complaining about ps3 price when....

everything else adds up quick. see it this way.

 not including tax. its a long READ, bear with me.

1. xbox 360 premium = $400

2 year live = $100

1 controller = $50

2 games = $110

 $660 to start enjoying ur xbox360.

2. wii = $300 (because of shortage most people buy off ebay at higher than normal prices)  retail = $250

1 nunchuck wiimote = $50

3 games = $160 (zelda a definite, and 2 party games)

around $450 to $510 to start enjoying ur wii

3. ps3 = $599

2 games = $120

1 controller = $50

$770. to start enjoying ur ps3

4. ps2 = $100

1 controller = $30

1 memory card = $20

30 games (some lackluster, some good) = $600 (say 20 per game, why this many games cause ps2 has ALOT of good games and alot of crappy ones, i'd say around 30 for most of the good ones) 

 ex. san andreas, ffx,x-2,11,12, mgs2, mgs3, capcom vs snk2, marvel vs capcom 2, tekken 5, soul caliber 2, devil may cry anniversary edition (dmc 1 2 & red label 3), god of war 1, 2, kingdom hearts 1, 2, gran turismo 4, ddr max 1 ,2,extreme 1, 2, resident evil 4, valkyrie profile 2, time crisis 1,2,3 etc...) 

$750. to start enjoying ur ps2. 

5. psp = $200

4gb mem stick = $100

good set of headphones = $100

2 games = $80

$480 to enjoy ur psp.

6. ipod = $299

good set of headphones = $100

$400 to enjoy ipod.

so breaking it all down, ps3 isn't THAT expensive, only a tad more.

heres how i see the consoles. 

360 for the online action/shooting experience. has the most variety of games, but also most of the lackluster games. i can only think of less than 10 decent titles, the rest are jus craptacular.

wii for the family/girlfriend and party. (its good but it gets old fast, gameplay is WAY too simple but the selling point is that its HIGHLY accessible and fun for a little while)

ps2 for urself  (ddr with girlfriend). (all those rpgs,action games, ps2 is the single player domination system, best single player games exist here, FFX, MGS3? comon ps2 wins for sure)

ps3 probably the only system out there that defines 'next gen' cause everything in it is 'next gen', bluray, hard drive, sexy black finish, its a fine and well built system, but it lacks the games for now but its all coming out soon. 

psp  (lots of bad ports, long load times, but its a good substitute for ur ipod, i mean who needs 20,000 songs on the go when ur actually listening to the latest and most fresh songs, thats usually about 10-30 songs, and add about 30 of ur favorites and old songs, u probably wont need mroe than HUNDRED songs at ANY given time. but there are quite a few good games out, ex.syphon filter dark mirror, killzone liberation, etc...) i mean people complain about the sound being too low,its because ur surroundings are TOO loud, so psp is a good system to limit u from pumping it too high so you dont end up damaging ur ears.

ipod (its good for music and  movies, and uh thats about it)

so i mean think about it, ipod alone costs 400, and ps3 is 600... 770 at least to start, ps3 is NOT THAT EXPENSIVE.

I don't think your logic would make sense to all people.  You stated that all Ipod do is just play music and videos?  That seems like enought to me since you can just carry it around.  Don't think you can or would want to carry your ps3 around to listen to music. fries021

You are right.  his logic doesnt make sense to alot of people.  Its a shame that he thinks it should.  The fact of the matter is, most regular people buy consoles for the games.  If they see that the x360 is capable of the same graphics along with the other things it offers, they might not want to pay extra money.  Furthermore, saying that the PS3 is cheaper because of all the extra things it has ASSUMES that everyone needs all those things.  Most people dont want to buy a wireless router to use their console wirelessly, and are more than happy using an ethernet cable and concealing it well.  Most people right now dont own HDTV sets, let alone TVs that go up to 1080p....these people could care LESS about blu ray.  Many people dont mind paying $5 a month for an excellent online service....I could go on but you get the point.  If you have no HDTV and no need for wireless, you have NO NEED for the extra things the PS3 comes with.  You would be wasting an extra $200 for wireless and blu ray capabilities that you dont even want.  Now, if you ARE interested in those things, then the PS3 is a great value.  Just because you need certain things, doesnt mean everyone does.  And that is why im sick and tired if people comparing the prices of these consoles.  ITS STUPID AND POINTLESS.  If you like a console, BUY IT.  IF you dont, then dont.  Period. 

This guy that started this thread just wasted ALL of that time writing that huge message for absolutely no reason, because arguing that one console is cheaper than the other is a moot point.  Someone needs a life apparently.

I don't like paying a lot of money all at once, so usually when I buy a console I try and spend the least amount of money possible while still buying enough to enjoy the console.

This is how I would usually buy my console/s...

Xbox 360 Premium: $399

1 or 2 games: $59-$120

Playstation3: $599

HDMI or component cable (If you have an HDTV): price varies depending on quality

1 game: $59

You get the idea. This is after I would probably sell any old DVD's and/or games for extra money. Not to mention I would probably try to find some of the games used. I usually wait on buying accessories like xbox live, and extra controllers. The only reason I would buy an HDMI or Component cable right of the bat is because analog looks terrible on HDTV's, which I have. I see your point though.
