There have been lots of rumors about an FFVII REMAKE and such and I have no clue whether any of them have any validity or not but I just wanted to pose the question - Why stop at FFVII???

I was an avid lover of the game and would love to see some sort of updated or remade version of it but there were so many other games that square made that could be good too.

I sat down tonight and decided to put FFVIII into my ps3 and it is sooo old. I still want to play it dont get me wrong, I love the stories that square gives us but look what, i think, eidos is doing with Tomb Raider: anniversary.

Square easily has the fan base to warrent at least an update to the graphics and maybe some voices for the older FF that lots of us know and love like the back of our hand.

Im sure some ppl dont care about FF but for me its kinda what I grew up with, its the games that I snuck outta bed as a kid to play so they are there in my memory and I think they should get some love so that we can actually see what the characters look like instead of grainy figures.

the funny thing is i remember thinking FFVIII was like the best thing I'd ever seen with all the 3d and the detail...

Damn...I was poking around on Square's site and there is nowhere to be found a feature to actually send them a message or anything. I know it would be nearly impossible for me to tell them to do this but I mean just to let them know what a consumer wants..

The thing with FFVIII is that they actually made it with realistic character models and high quality FMV, so it doesn't really need a remake as badly as FFVII (which had blocky characters, who still looked kinda deformed even in the FMV sequences). Maybe FFIX? Although I don't really think there's much demand for a remake of that, since it wan't really as popular as 7 or 8.

Sorry the old FF's did not have voices...

And no thanks.. I would not complain about FF7 being remade because I never played the game and I would love to try it.. but FF8 never look appealing to me in the slightest... I mean enemy's levelling with you?..no thanks.

exactly my point...put some professionally done voices in there. Like Advent Children.

And I understand if VIII wasnt your favorite but its one of the better FF in the series and it deserves attention.

Imo the "realism" look in VIII was one of the main reasons that ruined it for me. The hardware just couldn't do it justice the way their vision was going. Sad but true, so maybe if it was remade it would be a bit cooler.

I hope that they do something with FFVII but I'd settle for an HD version of the same gfx tbh - I don't need uber looking char models, just make it look a bit prettier and maybe give optional battle systems and then it would be worth an update. :)

Good question. I'd definitely purchase remakes of FF7 and FF8. The others I'd have to think long and hard about.

I would definitely buy FF7 if they remade it, same with 8 and even 9 i thought they were all great games apart from that space place in FF8 i Fooking hated that  but i would definitely buy them all if they were remade.

Although i think there would be a much higher demand for a FF7 remake since that game was...Revolutionary - right word ? yeah i think so :D

It's my belief that a FFVII remake would be terrible. Not because of the awesome graphics it would inevitably have, but because of the girly, whiny pansy ass voices I'm sure they would give Cloud and the rest of the cast. This would totally mar all the fond memories I had playing that great game.

I believe there are 2 reasons why Square Enix has not remade the Final Fantasy games yet.

1- They are making PLENTY of money off every new FF game they make which means theres no need to milk older games unless they start to not make profits anymore.

2-I believe they have been waiting for a newer playstation console that would do the older games justice if remade with all new graphics. Theres no reason to remake an amazing game like FFVII if its only going to be a slight upgrade. I believe they want the remake to be a masterpiece so I could see them either remaking it on the ps3 or even waiting for the next playstation to come out after this. only my opinion though

I agree that remakes could be good.  I want Chrono Trigger, FF6 and FF7.  But voice actors are a bad idea as most players have a certain image of those characters engraved in there mind that could easily be ruined by voices.  Also the games would most likely lose there atmosphere and tone. Those guys at Square now arent what they used to be.  FF7 would end up being a metrosexual anime fest most likely.  If they could bring back the original team for the remake that would be great, but it wont happen.

Then you have the risk of remakes in general.  The fact that if you dont add anything new but graphics people may feel disapointed, but if you go adding to much new to the equation it just doesnt feel the same.  Somehow they would have to maintain the core story and gameplay but add expansions on the story through new sidequests and more info w/out ruining the overall balance of the game or making the new additions feel tacked on.

I could go on forever but those are my main points.  Remakes are risky.
