Last night I was playing Pure, single player no online. I went through the usual shutdown procedures when I was done. Pressed the PS button on the controller, selected quit game, went to menu, pressed PS button again and selected turn off console. The console shut down, and as usual saw the green light blinking, signalling that it was shuting down. I got up, and left the room. Went to sleep.

Woke up this morning and went to the living room and saw that the green light was still blinking. What?? The whole time I was in bed, for 6.5 hours, the machine was still powering down? Is this normal??? I pressed the power button next to the eject button, but nothing happened, I held down on it, but nothing. I pressed the PS button on the controlled, and nothing. Finnaly I did a hard shut down, by turning off the console from the back.

I waited a couple of minutes and turned it on. Everything seems okay. The console wasnt hot, the menu worked, the browser was fine, and then played 20 minutes of Pure without any problems. I have a 40gig that I bought in June, so it's less than 4 months old. Ive never had any freezes in any games, only sometimes when using the browser. Also, this is the second time this problem has occured, last time it was last week, but I caught it happening about 20 minutes after I left the room.

Anyone know what this could be, and if I should be worried.

Thanks.

PS- Anyone know the number to Sony support in Canad

The only thing that I can think of is that when shutting down the ps3, it somehow froze or something and restarted. It happened to me a few times before where I was shutting down the ps3 and it restarted on its own. Thats what probably happened to you. Just make sure that when shutting down, it turns red before you leave the room.

Would it help if I eject whatever game I had inside before turning it off?

I think that when your PS3 was about to turn off.It some how froze and thats why it couldnt turn off.You should always make sure that it switches off properly and than leave. Also try to reboot it as much as possible, because i have noticed one thing that one day i left my PS on for some downloads, played GTA IV closed the game and the PS3 was still on.When i came back around 8-10 hours later ,the downloads were complete.I turned on GTA IV and there was noticeable lag in the game. When i restarted PS3 and turned on GTA IV the lag was gone.
