I started this topic to let everyone discuss why they think that you should or shouldnt get the new PSP.

For me I think if you already have the original PSP then you should just stick with it, but if you dont already have a PSP and you are looking to buy then the newer version might be something to look into.

What do you think??

I don't own a PSP so I would want this one mostly so I can download things. Im not too hyped about the games it has but might find something I like. I don't think I seen any PSP Game Commercials since the ones with the talking hair balls.

Well I'm planning on trading in my DS Lite for the new PSP Slim. It looks really nice with its redesign, and I also want something that can play Movies and Music when I'm at work during my lunch or something. Oh yea and I also really like the TV output thing a lot too! But do you need to plug it into an HDTV or can it work on a standard TV as well?

Getting rid of your DS Lite because you're getting a PSP slim seems to me like getting rid of your radio because you were buying a t.v. The DS has games that I love to play like Elite Beat Agents and Ouendan and the PSP has it's advantages as well like racing titles which is the reason I'll be getting one probably soon after the new version comes out. ..but get rid of one just because I'll be buying the other? No way; it's just a video game machine not a religion.

To me, there's not enough that the new PSP offers over the old to make a repurchase necessary, although the TV-out and "more efficient" hardware battery-wise (according to the conference) is nice, it's not worth a whole new PSP imo, unless you really have cash to throw about.

Although if one doesn't own a PSP, the new one would be the obvious choice, and hell, I expect Sony to drop the old PSP altogether once they get the new one in ample stock.

You can only play PSP games on a TV through a component cable, which means you need a tv with one.

Thats not so much a problem for me because I have one, but if I wanted to get a cheap tv for my bedroom to play games on it would have to be an expensive cheap tv.

Otherwise, I don't think any features have been cut, so theres no reason to want the old one. Of course, if you already have the old one, you can probably get by without getting the new one.
