I just bought a router since my modem is further away from my ps3 since i moved. The PS3 picks up the signal when i scan and it says 92%. It lets me sign in to the PSN for about 5 minutes and then it signs me off, yet the internet access is still connected for downloads and the browser. Has this happened to anyone else and do you know a way to fix it? Thanks.

1st step is always restart your system and try again.

Or any combination of pressing the reset button on the router and disconnecting the power chord and reconnecting it

It might be a problem with PSN if your router is still connected to the net...

u have to use ur pc

i also have a ****** 54g something something

u open explorer and then type in the ip address for the router my instruction manual for mine says that therouters ip adress is 192.168.2.1 (without any http or www)it should then either ask for a password or just let u change stuff anyway.

but there should be a setting for upnp that u need to allow under utilities

then on ur ps3 change the network settings to have upnp as enabled if it doesnt automatically do it (cant remember if mine auto changed or not, regardless prob better to get ur ps3 to find the network again or something)

because my nat type used to be 3 aswell and would also occasionally get dced from the psn but not every 5 min like u say, i then allowed upnp on my router and my ps3 which got me a nat type 2 and havnt been dced practically ever again.

Mines nat 2 and occasionally gets dc'd. I just think it's the routers fault, it seems to be junk (d-link). I'm aware 2.4ghz phone would kick my wireless connection offline. But it also kicks my lan connections too, lmfao? Retarded router.

At last-someone getting same problem as me-it drives me nuts.Doesn't matter wotever settings you adjust or reset-it always does the same.Im using a Linksys WRT54GS+usually get 92-100% signal+yet I too keep getting logged out of PSN,while downloads still run.I've even formatted my PS3+lost all my saves+demos to try and resolve the problem, but it's still the same,I give up now.

If you're still having problems, use a bridge. I had a similar problem where I connected fine but after about 20 seconds or so the PS3 would disconnect me. I set up a bridge and have had no problems since. I have 5 other wireless gadgets (2 laptops, XBox 360, Wii, and a PC) and none of those have issues, only the PS3.

I have little to no problems with my wireless connection although my router is running at 2.8 ghz and my wireless phone is running on a 5.8 ghz signal. The key is try to get any wirless device that runs on a different signal range. I also have a couple of laptops along with a desktop running off the network.

I solved the problem of the PS3 dropping the WiFi signal. I did two things, I stood the PS3 up (vertically) and off my metal stereo receiver. I haven't had a drop since and it's been about three days. So I'm not sure if it is the WiFi antenna being in a better position or if it was interference caused by sitting on the metal receiver.
