Is your dell keyboard a usb type? If so, you already know the answer to your question.
I have a Logitech wireless EX110 usb keyboard and mouse. you gotta feed it batteries (two AAA for the keyboard, two AA for the mouse). it's a radio frequency type, not IR. when you power on the ps3, you press a button on the receiver that's plugged into the usb port, then press the button on the bottom of the mouse so the receive can recognize the mouse. then you wait a few seconds (they say 20 but i don't wait that long) and press the button on the receiver again, then the button on the bottom of the keyboard. now you're good to go. sounds like a pain, but it really isn't, just takes a few seconds while your ps3 is powering up.

eeww yuck. Batteries and radio frequencey? If I were to get that here, all I can say is "interference central".

No it's gotta be direct USB only. Only PCs can read past the conversion
