Will BF:BC make COD4 obsolete for me?

I own Call of Duty 4 and love it... definitely one of the better arcade-style FPSes I've played in a long while. The single player campaign is interesting, the multiplayer is implemented very well and has a reward system that encourages me to play a lot.

I was thinking of picking up Battlefield Bad Company as it's been getting a lot of hype... but it seems like similar gameplay but may be lacking the attention to detail of COD4.

If you're going to recommend something else, I already have Orange Box and Resistance. I also played the hell out of Rainbow Six Vegas on Xbox 360, and loved that game -- haven't played it's sequel yet. Don't recommend junk like Haze please, that game was horrible.

But anyway, is this game going to change my life? It looks like it's a good, but not must-own, shooter... but I thought Uncharted looked kinda lame until I bought it and was completely wowed by it, so I'm asking for honest feedback here. Thanks, folks.

Yeah, see that's the impression I got... like it's not better, but it's good to play for a while if I get worn out on COD4... but at that rate, I've got about a dozen games for various systems that I haven't finished yet and could always go back to COD4 and if I wanted another shooter, I'd probably just get Rainbow Six Vegas 2 because it has a completely different style of gameplay to mess around with.

BF is fun but has terrible hit ditection and can be buggy online.-Dionysus-

Yeah, the online concerned me too because I can't even connect to the Team Fortress 2 servers and didn't know if BF was as bad as that. I haven't even played TF2 since I traded in my 360 copy of Orange Box... haven't tried it out since the patch yet, but I'm kinda getting off the beaten path here.

How is the online buggy?

Everything he said except for better graphics :P, but better gameplay. destructible enviroments and able to ride tanks, heli's, and vechicles, also better single player mode the only thing i wish is that the game has co-op, oh well mercenaries 2 is coming really really soon 8). i got bfbc and cod4 and i love both games. i really play bfbc more but ima keep cod4 just incase in a day or two i feel like going back to it :)

I didnt like the single player either, online save it for me as well.

i rather take it over cod4 though. it feels like a restricted demo each time i head back to the cod4 single player

only 4-5 hours long. so i rather have bfbc in terms of single player mode if you ask me. multiplayer wise as well i think its a better overall game.

I dont know that I'd say it'll make CoD obsolete, but personally, I've completed the single player mode of both games, with CoD's being the better of the two, however, once the single player is done in this games, there's seldom much replay value for them, so, it boils down to online.

Stacking these two up side by side online, I'd say if you want a more "hectic / agressive" experience, go for Battlefield, as it's a little more realistic, what with the vehicles and destructible environments, which essentially evens things out for those of you that prefer to camp out in buildings with sniper rifles ;) Now, there's every chance that this wall you're hiding behind is going to be blown out any second ;)

Yes, there are idiots that think its amusing to kill their own team here too, but in this case, it costs you points, so there's less chance that you'll run into that there.

If you didn't play it on the 360 already you could stick with CoD4 until the Bioshock port in a couple months. I've heard very good things.OrwellJames

I DID play Bioshock on 360 already, but plan on getting it again and playing it again. It's that good, everything you've heard is absolutely true. Best single player shooter I've played since Half Life 2.
