Will Borderlands be a Must-Buy?

Personally, I am excited about the release of Borderlands. Only 26 minutes and 6 days over here in Cali.

I am a bit worried that this game could fall short of my expectations, but hopefully a good review score will nullify my second-guessing.

Opinions anyone? :D

This is exactly what I'm think so I'm just waiting a while before I buy to see how people like it and all the reviews. But from what I've seen so far it looks great.

It should be a pretty decent game. Will it be a must buy? Don't know we'll have to wait and see.

could get a strong fanbase, as it seems incredibly fun and gameplay seems simple enough

I'm leaning in that direction myself. Looks amazing & if it lives up to or surpasses my expectations based on what I've read then, yes,it WILL be must buy.

Yeah, I'm waiting for the IGN/Gamespot review. Even though IGN seems like they just want to hand out 9's. x]

The concept seems cool so far. But for instance I don't understand why they change the art direction. And the gameplay looks very generic :/

It will be a day 1 purchase for me. Still need to catch up on the rest of the games ive missed out on reciently tho (Uncharted 2, Demons Souls). UUUUUGH MY WALLET.

The concept seems cool so far. But for instance I don't understand why they change the art direction. And the gameplay looks very generic :/uRan_Ehr
I actually like the concept art styled graphics. It's different, more fresh..for a FPS at least. As for the gameplay, what do you mean? I'm actually considering selling my Demon's Souls (Which I've only put about 10 hours in) to have enough for this and possible Dragon Age: Orgins, or another title.

Well, let's check: RPG: love it, Cell Shading graphics: love it, FPS: like it ... Yeah, it's a must have for me and I have it pre-ordered since I heard of it. i just hope they don't screw up like the team of Hellgate: london :/

Hellgate: London has plenty of neat ideas, but many of them aren't executed as well as you'd like. ^The review's thesis statement says it all.

The gameplay just seems way too FPS'ish. At least that's my impression from the videos. It just looks more like a generic shooter because the RPG elements don't really affect the actual gameplay.

From what I've seen in videos the RPG elements do affect the gameplay. The skills play an influential role on how you approach enemies, like with the siren's stealth and agility i'm sure that'll come in handy, and the upgrading of general stat points looks promising.

Haha, well I disliked Fallout 3's VATS. I wanted it to play more like a shooter which Borderlands fufills. And I absolutely love Counter-Strike. You just reminded me of the glory days of dominating pubs and assembling quick Cal-O clans. :D

For me it is. Reminds me of Fallout 3, but with more stylized graphics and multi-player. I can't wait to play co-op with some friends.
