i only have the 40gig ps3 and it doesnt have BC so i cant paly ps2 games on it, will they eventually make it so you can get the old ps2 games for the ps3 e.g Resident Evil 4, FFX, FFXII etc?
nobody knows for sure. i would guess that it would be at least a year away if they even consider it.
since the 40gig doesnt have BC, they would need to update the firmware, which sony has said they have no plans to do, or they would have to include emulation software in each title you download, which is more likely.
anyway, dont hold your breath, buy a PS2 if you want to play the games.

yeah i was pretty sure i read somewhere that the BC was definitely not going to be added. especially because i am pretty sure that even in the 80gig the BC isnt all software emulation, i thought there was still some hardware present.
With the announcement of the 160GB PS3, I think it's likely, but a ways away. Remember, folks...PS2 games are usually around 4GB apiece. That would fill up a smaller hard drive PS3 very quickly.
october seems to be the magical month for bc... i guess we will wait and see, i am on the same boat as you, i sold my ps2 and my 60 gig ps3 when I got my limited gun metal ps3
