Will God Of War III be 'the game to sell the PS3'?

In 2005 God Of War came out for the PS2. It was a huge success and was hailed'the game that sold the PS2'. 2 years later God Of War II came out and pretty much had the same success as the original game. Now the question is:Will God Of War III live up to it's name and be 'the game o sell the PS3'?

It'll be boost sales, then after a while sales will return to normal. It's so predictable.

No doubt that it will bosst the sales. But other titles like Heavy Rain, Gran Turismo 5, White Knight Chronicles will definitely lend a helping hand to God of War in terms of sales.

this game will sell like cupcakes. i think its going to be the same as how MGS4 first came out, itll boost the sales for the ps3.

It will boost sales alot like other people said.It might even get a bundle,but it's not gonna sell the PS3.I think MGS already did that lol

The three system sellers - for large scale - as i know are God of War III, Metal Gear Solid : Guns of the Patriots, and Gran Turismo 5.

the lesser ones would be games like Killzone 2, Final Fantasy 14 (if it does indeed stay exclusive), and Last Guardian.

but I agree, taht i think the sweet number for the PS3 is somewhere between 250 and 300. once it's down to there, it'll much much more reasonable to buy a PS3 for the consumer, and the software sales will only get better for Sony line up.

I have a feeling it might be the next AAAA game as well

I reckon it will be very popular, but maybe not the ultimate profit making game.

the game is too violent, which can be a good or a bad thing,but when i think of it, i found that ppl love violence especially in NA .........i think the game will sell like crazy there, AND giving the time of the release date March 2010, PS3 will be cheaper by then....... so it is win win win win for sony and PS3 and us.

I think there's plenty of reason to buy a ps3 right now , if this still isn't enough to boost ps3 sales , I don't think GOW III will do it , but well one can only feel pity for those who can't play it.

Of course it'll see PS3's.

BUT...truth be told, God of War 3 isn't needed to sell PS3's anymore. Sony has an impressive lineup of multiplat and exclusive games that will do enough to sell systems. God of War 3 will sell consoles to God of War fans who haven't jumped on board the PS3 bandwagon. It's another "Ace in the Hole" that Sony can tout when it comes to exclusive games.

Looking in retrospect, I think it was a real smart idea for Sony to release God of War 2 on the PS3. That way, the 150 million person userbase got to play the first 2 parts of the series...AND they get plenty of time to polish the final game in the trilogy.

There is no doubt that God of War III will be a system seller, but considering the rumors that there maybe a price drop near the holidays and if the price drop remains consistent till march 2010 then it will sure drive the sales of PS3 like no other title. I mean GOW III is on ever PS3 owners list of must buy game and if Sony does a great marketing for it then GOW III will do for Ps3 what Gears of war did for Xbox 360.

I agree,that the sales will spike for a little while .Then I think they will go back to normal.
