does anyone else think that God of War III will sell consoles? I'm gonna have my Ps3 in time to play for sure...if not I'll just buy my ps3 when it comes out.

It will probably convince some people to get a PS3. I myself know some people who want a PS3, just for that game.
I'm sure some people will buy it because of GoW3 but I don't think it will cause a significant increase in sales. There are plenty of great games already out now so GoW would just add to that list. I think Sony will see a sales increase collectively between all the the great exclusives they have coming out in the next year. Some people that have 360s may defect over once they realize that Microsoft doesn't have much to offer in '09.
I think it is the whole line up of PS3 titles Past and future that will sell PS3 consolesGgames from the past such as MGS4,Uncharted,Resistance,Motorstorm,Heavenly sword etc, etc.and new games coming out such as Uncharted 2,GT5,GOW3 etc,etc.K1LLR3175agreed good point
yeah, but its not gonna cause a huge spike or anything. maybe not even a small one. I'm sure there's a few poeple waitng just for the game but not enough to have a huge impact.
I'm sure some die-hard fans of the series will buy it when it comes out if they haven't already. Considering how awesome it's going to be I'm sure many people will buy one. I'm just realizing how big of a year it is for the PS3. INfamous, Uncharted 2, Killzone2, GOW3. I feel happy to have a PS3! I'm excited!
[QUOTE="Needles-Kane"]Probably for a short time like MGS4 did. But maybe MGS4 sold a lot of PS3s since they re-introduced a non-gimped system- that was the one and only reason I bought it (it was also $100 off the first week it was out too). MGS4 is a more popular series too isn't it? So who knows.emorainboIm not so sure, although mgs is a great series its a niche game so it isnt as well known as Ratchet and CLank or Halo. GoW on the other hand is a much more mainstream game so I expect games like Gran Turismo 5 and GoW to push way more machines than MGS4. That is a good point, GoW is much more mainstream. (I don't think GT5 will push that much at this point though).

Not appealing doesn't mean not known. Dude, Metal Gear was born way before Ratchet and Clank or Halo. The Metal Gear franchise back in 1998 wasn't popular when MGS1 came out, and yet MGS1 managed to sell more than 7 million copies. GOW series haven't sold much comparing to what MGS games did in sales. And NO God of War is not as popular as Metal Gear. Time and history proves this. And Halo? are you kidding?

First...chill dude. Second...all this guy's saying is that gaming didn't appeal to many at that time as it does today. Hell....i didn't kknow of Metal Gear Solid until the year of 2004, and the only game in the series i ever played is MGS 4.[QUOTE="THQ88"][QUOTE="emorainbo"] Im not so sure, although mgs is a great series its a niche game so it isnt as well known as Ratchet and CLank or Halo. Prologue didn't sell much either so I still don't know how you're assuming that GT5 will sell alot. I know GT games been selling well in the past but man Prologue didn't sell well at ALL comparing to previous GT games. I might be wrong with GT5 but as far as GOW games go, those games' total sales do not exceed the 4 million copies. I am still not sure why people claim GOW would sell or move consoles much when they haven't done this in the past.

True, but for instance, the reason i didn't buy the Prologue was because i knew how short it was since it was no near what would be the full game, even if i have to wait. Why waste money?Im not so sure, although mgs is a great series its a niche game so it isnt as well known as Ratchet and CLank or Halo. MGS is a more hardcore/niche series. and yes, the halo series is probably more popular, by that i mean more well known. it doesnt mean its better, but you can ask 20 random people if they know what halo is, and 20 people if they know what metal gear solid is, and im willing to bet more people will know what halo is. that series is just much more mainstream. i mean some people could even ask their grandmas what halo is and they would know.
God of War III definitely will, however in PS3 case different games will increase sales. Metal Gear Solid 4 was a start and Final Fantasy XIII (regardless of multiplatform) and FFXIII VS. will see very good rise in sales and Gran Turismo 5 is in my opinion will sell most PS3 systems.
The God Of War III game WILL sell PS3s'. The amount of coverage God Of War III is going to getmakes it difficult NOT to get a PS3. GOW III, like MGS4:GOTP is an EXCELLENT reason to get one.
Well considering Killzone 2 didn't sell very well at all, I don't even know. I really don't know why first party games don't sell better on the PS3. You have to support the system PS3 owners!does anyone else think that God of War III will sell consoles? I don't think it's going to sell PS3's to people who haven't played the first two, and those who have probably already own a PS3.TikicobraI haven't played the first two since I never had a PS2 until I finally got one last weekend for $99, and GoW III is one of the big reasons I got a PS3 over a 360, but definitely not the only reason. I'm definitely going to play GoW I and II before III comes out though. :)
Sony should do a price drop and bundle GoW III with PS3 right around the holidays. That would have the effect of dropping a hydrogen bomb on M$, IMO.frosted_tofuA "headshot" to Bill Gates dome (to use KZ2 terminology)...LOL! Fanboys chill I got both systems so I'm not a hater just prefer PS3...for now.
Lol guys to tell the truth i bought my ps3 last year october so i could have a ps3 before kz2 released and gow3.. God of war 3 should get more sales especially if they drop they ps3 price like a month or 2weeks before it releases and then release a god of war 3 package.. That would sell.. No doubt there would be a GT5 package..
And if sony dont drop the price by gow3 then they have to have one before gt5 releases
