ive been looking at reviews of the game and it seems very good but ive never played a MGS game before (manily cuz its older than me) but will i enjoy the game will i know whats going on? BTW i catch on to storys evry fast but the MGS story seems LONNGG
I was in the same posistion as you, But I bit the bullet and bought it. As long as you pay attention to the cut scenes you will be OK, But you wont understand who some people are but you learn quickely. Just get it you wont be dissapointed.

If you like government conspiracies and the like, with a little over the topness (but not in the future) type of deal, then sure.
Metal Gear is VERY story driven. You watch, you play, you watch, you play. Cutscense and gameplay go side by side with Metal Gear where as other games, it's 1 minute cutscene, then 12 hours of gameplay.

Noooo! you cant play mgs4 without playing the first 3! Its like watching a movie and not knowing what happened the first half. Sure you can play it, but story-wise you are missing out on everything. There are 3 stories you are supposed to know and MGS4 adds a little to it and completes all the missing holes. I've played all the MGS games before, but even I went back and played the first 3 again to refresh all the details about the story, its very complicated but EXTREMELY GOOD. My fav game(s) ever.
Yea you will deff still enjoy the game even if you havent played any of the previous games! If you do want to get into the story though you can buy the essentials pack for PS2, or just read a summary of the story online! AND dont forget you dont need to know jack to love the online, and its the best online game ever imo!
