Okay so i got a really good deal on a ps3 with three games which are Resistance, madden and nba.Out of theese games i only like resistance but since i got it cheap its okay. Now i only have money for one game.Im really thinking about oblivion because of the hours of gameplay available. But i have never really liked RPG's and i dont know if i will like it. From what i hear it sounds great but dont know if its my type of game. The other choices i was thinking about were:

Tony Hawk project 8:i think it looks okay and maybe the story mode will entertain me untill GTA4

Virtua Fighter 5: I like the tekken games and all but i think it might be  a little boring after a while.

Nba street home court:it just looks fun

Please dont say Motorstorm i played it but it was pretty boring and repetitive.

I say oblivion most definitly! Im not an rpg lover but ive liked final fantasy 10 ffx-2 and oblivion. Oblivion is very fun and has alot of gameplay. I was leary about getting into it but it is very well made and entertaining game.

I have tony hawk and unless you love skateboarding then just rent tony hawk it gets old quick.

I agree that vf5 looks repetitive.

home court looks repetitive as well.

You're in luck- Oblivion isn't an RPG, so you might be able to enjoy it.

The Virtua Fighter series is VERY deep, though. If you really want to put the time into and master a character, then you'll find a lot to like. If not, then I'd skip it.

I don't like you if you don't like Motorstorm.

Get Oblivion then.

Will you enjoy Oblivion? Well I and millions of gamers have. This game won Game Of The Year on different websites and magazines for a good reason. It's ground breaking! There's nothing out there like it. Some games may share similar traits but who can claim that Oblivion is just a copy of them? If you enjoy medieval themes, The Lord of the Rings movies, Warriors, Magic and Fantasy. Then you'll love this game. I'm planning on buying the PS3 version for the slightly better graphics and load times. Despite owning the collector's edition for the 360. Cheers

It's an Action RPG. Similar (and better than Zelda).Unlike traditional RPGs like Final Fantasy with turn base combat.

Oblivion is a western action RPG. You'll like it. Virtua fighter 5 is only good if you're a hardcore fan. The other games are utter crap.

Tony Hawk probably will not hold your attention for very long, and if you like Tekken, then chances are Virtua Fighter will frustrate the hell out of you; it is seriously hard and takes a lot of time to learn (Unless you are a natural in the fighting genre).

Liek everyone else has said, go with Oblivion.  It is a little different from standard RPG's and allows for total freedom.  The unique aspect of Oblivion is that there is no right or wrong way to play the game, you basically live the character's life based on how you create him/her. For example, if you make a Thief, then you will spend time robbing people and stealing items from people's homes, or you can be a Knight that's honorable, or make him deliquent.  The choice is up to you, plus it'll keep you busy for around 170 hours.

i am in the EXACT same mind-frame as the original poster,

ordered my ps3 last night with resistance / motorstorm and F1.

but i keep hearing OBLIVION, it gets great reviews on gamespot and has a big massive review in PSM3 magazine (they also like it) but i, like the original poster have not been the greatest of fans of RPGs.

however, i did enjoy final fantasy 7 on the ps1 all those years ago, and i do enjoy my FPS (thats for sure), so maybe i will enjoy it, i just dont know.

Definitely get Oblivion.

Even if you don't like traditional RPGs, this one is different enough to offer you some interesting moments!
