Well let's see, I guess:
1) Sales of PS3's are going to deminish lower than they are now
2) This game will not sell and other PS3 games neither because peoplebought PS3's to play only PS2 games (according to some whiners)
3) Sony will not even think about bundling this game for a sku package
Are you kidding me, of Course Metal Gear Solid 4 is going to be a hit! It's going to make people want to have a PS3 like MGS2 made people buy PS2's! All the above of what I said was a joke (exception to number 2, particulary the end part). I mean MGS4 is the most wanted game, right next door to the other box's most well known franchise. Hell, even the Xbox fanboys want this game so bad that they start up rumors that it is coming to 360 later (with multiple discs and high amounts of compression *rolls eyes*). This is the most wanted game right now, even more than GTA IV and the game with the angelic ring. MGS$ is going to pwn!
no way near as much as halo. 1- halo has microsoft backing it, infact with all these new options on xboxiive, it truly has become the "halobox", sad but true. 2- people buy a xbox for halo...hence halo box 3- mgs is no way as popular, weather you like it or not, halo is easier to understand, get in to and have fun. its more of a casual game, and that means more popular.feel_freetwo
Also Microsoft's deep pockets for advertising and marketing doesn't help either. But you know what though? Metal Gear Solid 4 would be far bigger than Halo for it's fanbase and really that's all that matters. The way I see it, MGS4 is more for us fans than the casual people. Sure they added a little with the FPS mode, but in reality Metal Gear Solid 4 only really matters to us. The Metal Gear fanbase.
There is no doubt about it....it will definitely boost sales:D, i also think that if Sony advertises Killzone 2 as much as Microsoft did for Halo 3 it will have similar sales 8)
it may, but i dont care about sales....i dont get any of the moneyjakndaxter7223
People are so preoccupied with sales because good sales provide game developers an incentive to produce quality titles for specific consoles. Without good sales, exclusive titles will decrease, and, as a result, the console will fail. That's why people care so much about sales. i guess, also, people like to validate their purchase by being able to say, "its the best system, it has the best games. So, i didn't waste my money."
Yes! Most PS2 owners who want to get a PS3 are waiting for that game. They know it will cost less when MGS4 comes out, and maybe there will be a special edition PS3, who knows... People are claiming that PS3 is a flop, the truth is that most games weren't ready at launch... most people who wanted an XBOX 360 for Halo got it from start since it wasn't expensive. The Wii is so inexpensive people just go ahead and buy it. PS3's problem is that developers are lazy and don't understand the new processor, and the PS3 costs a lot, since it plays best with an HDTV... but no worries. MGS4 is not going to appeal to old fans, but also a new public since the gameplay looks awesome. Personally, and honestly, the only game XBOX 360 will have that I envy is Ace Combat 6, there's nothing else that interests me, Halo 3 is okay, but even my friends who has an XBOX 360 told me he still prefers the first Halo by far. PS3 has a lot of good games and many companies are now going multiplatform. All this to say that MGS4 will prove what the PS3 is all about, Killzone 2, FF13 and FF13 Versus will too!iMacBot
Agreed, the only real thing that is really keeping the ps3 from booming sales is its price and no real title games to go with it but with the price cuts and the those games coming out and not to mention ratchet and clank it definatly will make the ps3 sales spike. ps3 wont catch up within a year but by 09 there sales will top the charts.
it may, but i dont care about sales....i dont get any of the moneyjakndaxter7223
Yah.. but the number of the PS3 units sold will increase the installed base which will affect the number of games developed for the console and the number of exclusives it get. what I'm trying to say is that the developers will pay attention and we won't see any of them bad quality games... think about it.:D
im so sick of hearing about halo 3 and having each game compared to halo does anyone else else feel this pain!
and no i don't think mgs will help ps3 sales coz sony won't spend major bucks on "hype" like microsoft did
I hope that MG4 will have a good impact on the PS3 sales and help it to stand on it's feet.agmsdAre you talking about the 3.3 million sales in Halo 3 copies? And 500K 360? Think about this. The reason that this sounds like a big deal is because all they do is report the number as if 3.3 MIL ran out and got the game on the first day. First of all. There were millions PRE-ORDERS. Secondly, 3.3 MIL is nothing. Look at Halo 1 and Halo 2 sales. We're talking over 6-8 MIL for Halo 1 and Halo 2 respectively. Another thing. During the xbox days. There were around 25 MIL xbox 1 sold. But if there 25 MIL xbox 1 owners why weren't they 20 MIL copies of Halo 1 and Halo 2 sold? Could it be that even xbox owners not even half of them will get Halo? Now, think about this on a user base perspective. There are 10.5 MIL 360 owners. Do we expect all 10 MIL to get Halo 3? Nope. Wont happen. It would have to be much more 360 owner for that to happen. And look at it from a global perspective. Halo 3 and 360 is mostly wanted in the US. It's very FPS-US centric. Most of the games out for the 360 are PC-born. They are PC type games. 80 of them shooters. This is why 7 MIL out of 10.5 MIL 360 are sold right here in the USA. Now, as far as PS3 games...A game like MSG4 is very big globally. Not just in the US. And while MSG4 is big. It's not as big as GT or FFXIII. Those are even bigger globally.
[QUOTE="helysandoval"]dude notice that when ps2 came out with metal gear 2 everyone of your halo fanboys run to buy a ps2 to play mgs2 so what you think metal gear 4 will do?Denji
Umm, didn't that come out WAY before X-Box did??
MGS2 came out in the same month as Halo 1......and both of them did really good at boosting system sales, but i don't think the Halo fan boys ran out to buy a PS2 & MGS2 sense they were probably still playing Halo 1
