Probably not. Even if they had MGS4 in Q1, it wouldn't have happened. What's the current global count? 8 million after Christmas, maybe? I don't think they can get another 3 million by March.
P.S. That 8 million was a total estimate.

It has an impact on how many games you'll be playing over the next couple years on your PS3. If Sony isn't selling very many consoles, then people aren't going to make games for a limited user base on the PS3.

How many Dreamcast games do you own?
That's why some care.
I think they will make it and if not, it wont be by a large margin. They have been selling over 50,000 each week in Japan for a couple of months and it has also been selling much better in other territories as well. Although there is no huge system selling game coming out (in the West) between now and the end March, there is a few games that may help move systems. Devil May Cry 4 being one (shame it didn't stay an exclusive, although it is a moot point in Japan) and I am sure Ryu ga Gotoku: Kenzan! will be huge in Japan and will hopefully sell a few systems. If Sega are smart, there will be a bundle.
The first 2 games on the PS2 sold over 800,000 each and keep getting back into the top 30 with each budget release. Although the PS3 version wont sell anything near that, hopefully it will be one of the top sellers on the system so far. I say that because something like Shin Sangoku Musou 5 only sold about 250,000 on the PS3 where as all the PS2 games were million sellers in Japan. Hopefully Ryu ga Gotoku will benefit from the higher number of systems that have been sold since then. I need something to reafirm my faith in the Japanese game market, especially after that wii fit crap.
Well Sony are at around 8 million sold worldwide and they need to sell another 3 million by the end of this fiscal year which is March 08. I believe that its possible to achieve the target considering they have another 3 months plus I'm sure the holidays have boosted those sales significantly around the world especially with the help of quality titles like Uncharted, UT3, R&C Future etc.
If Sony does miss the target it will only be by a small margin.

I wouldn't worry about that as it's already out of question. Current sales already covered PS3 future. It will only grow from here with big titles and new ones that are on the way.
This is PlayStation, not Sega Saturn. ^_^

Yep, this guy is smart. People should stop worrying about the consoles future and stop comparing to the 360 which as we all know got a head start! Ps3 has had a great year and its only gonna get more popular from here. There is a console war but who came up with the idea that one console is going to fail? Fanboys, thats who. There is always room for 2 hardcore gaming consoles. And no, I don't rate the wii as a hardcore gaming console! To quote a smart dude "Current sales already covered Ps3 future"
Yes I am smashed but what I write is truth. Happy 2008!

You're damn right it isn't, the Saturn is the best system ever released. As far as I am concerned the Saturn didn't exist outside Japan. As for people saying crap about the DC, the only reason that system failed in the end was due to piracy. If Sega had given the system a DVD drive instead of that silly GD-ROM, it would be a totally different story.
[QUOTE="carddude"]When the price is right, yescoffey85
at the mintute it is estimated that the 60 gig and 20 gig consoles are costing $800+ to produce so sony are already selling them at a loss, the price wont drop till the technology is old which will be a long time
The Consoles WERE costing sony $800+ a pop when the ps3 came out. In a years time the console should cost half as much to produce. So now it will be from $400 to $500. So will there be a price drop before march, I think not but it still should sell 11 million by the end of the fiscal year. I could see it a price drop again in July.
