Will the jump from PS3 to PS4 be as great as the jump from ps2 to PS3?

I recently read an article that stated the next gen consoles would be roughly 6 times as powerful as their current conterparts. Just wondering if anyone knows how that difference compares to the difference between ps2 and ps3? Will the jump be as great? greater? Thoughts?

why is there nonstop talk about the ps4? sony said the ps4 isn't coming out for a hand full of years but to answer your question, i doubt it since tech hasn't really changed that much (from what i've seen)

I think they won't release it unless their is a noticeable difference... So perhaps not as big as a jump, but it'll be an improvement from the PS3. Just wait a couple years.

This news was about the new xbox not the ps4 as sony said that we won't see any ps4 any sooner,please guys check your posts before u go throw it at the forums.

no..ps3 is simply perfect and ppl ADDICTED it..i guess many ppl will stick with ps3 even when ps4 is out

I don't think there will be that much of a jump because we're not going form SD to HD or anything. As far as processing power, well, there's a limit to how much time the developers can spend programming stuff before you'd have to sell 10 million copies of a game just to recoup the development costs. I think we're already pushing that limit actually. We'll undoubtedly see big improvements next gen, but not gigantic ones.

There is plenty of time till the PS4 comes out.I'm pretty sure tech and graphics will evolve in the next 2-3 years, and the we will see PS4.

A more powerful console means **** if the devs don't USE that higher power machine and keep on developing on lesser gaming engines. O_O

I hope so. Sony being the last to launch in the 8th Generation then the Playstation 4 does have a chance of a greater jump in technology. So yes it could very well be a large increase from 7th to 8th Generation.
