they shouldnt call it playstation no more they need to come up with a new name. its about time that they do

No, they shouldn't change the name. "Playstation" has a large fanbase. If they change the name, it might confuse consumers and they may lose a lot of their fanbase. No, they should keep with the Playstation brand. Only Nintendo can get away with switching names every generation.

I doubt it will be called PlayStation 4, since the japanese word for the number 4 is "shi", which also means death.azzezino
Last I heard they had changed what 4 isbecause of the negative conotation of shi (younger siblings were taking japanese at the time). So if it's not something else now it's being phased out kinda like our thee's and thou's
How about the Ps2+2 or The Ps3+1? However all joking aside didn't Krazy Ken say that he had envised the Ps4 and beyond. So if he can say "4" then I imagine it'll be the Ps4....mind you he was a bit nutty,
I agree, to give the system such a connotation would be a pretty bad marketing move. Besides, the number thing has been over done, I think they should stick with "Playstation" maybe shorten it to "PS" officially and give the new instalment a name rather than a number (along the lines of "extreme" as suggested above, but a bit more original.)

Kinda like Final Fantasy. FFVII has nothing to do with FFVI, but it's the name that builds so much hype. Same with Playstation. It's become a household name now, so they're very likely to stick with it.

I think it's safe to say that nextgen the game part of the console will be 'just another feature' rather than the main feature of the console, so who knows if it will even be called the playstation
oooooooooooo ps4 sounds just right IMO... and where do these guys keep getting 7 years from??? the PS4 wont be out till 2016 which is 9 years from now.... seeing as how the ps3 launched november 2006... 10 years later would be november 2016... duh
