unless you get a fat 4 USB PS3 not for right now nah....i got one i love it....but honestly i havent played a PS2 game on it in a long time....i think they will do something...PS2s are still selling too well to worry about BC.....yet it would be a great way to get some sales for the PS3....maybe even sell just a USB with a PS2DVD drive on it to connect would be nice....sell it for like 50-80 bucks or so

I highly doubt that. They're still moving units of the ps2, so why would they? Come to think of it, didn't some of the early shipments of the PS 3 play the older games?

I've pretty much given up on backward compatibility. I still have a PS2 slim that works fine. If backward compatibility returns then awesome. If not, meh, still have my PS2.

I'm really interested to see what PS2 games are remastered on the PS3 now instead. Apparently a Metal Gear Solid and Devil May Cry collection were both rumored. Now if only we'd hear something about Ratchet & Clank and Kingdom Hearts already.

No Backwards Compatiblity in Playstation 3 will never ever return. Even if Sony stopped selling playstation 2's right now. Since Sony has now learned that they can re-sell old PS2 games off the PSN network, or Put the PS2 games on Blu-ray disc and Re-sell them as HD collections forever.

BC in Playstation 3 is gone for good. It will never be coming back.

Just buy a ps2. The closest you'll get is downloadable PS2 games or blu-ray remakes.

Gamestops selling them for $50, well worth it to play all the old games, and better than sitting on your hands waiting for backwards compatibility.

Better get a PS2... less work for your PS3... then keep your PS3, so when the next big one comes out... backwards compatibility wouldn't be much of an issue.
