Will we get anything like Mass Effect?

That game is THE GAME that ill admit to being jealus that the 360 owners will have. I LOVED Kotor 1 and 2 for the xbox, and this just looks like that x100. Are any devs working on a sci-fi, shooter, rpg game for the PS3?

That is worthy of jealousy. KOTOR was the best rpg of last gen and Bioware is too good to make Mass Effect bad.

Doesn't Bioware have an unannounced project for the ps3? It might not be sci-fi, but it'll probably be some epic rpg. We'll have to wait and see

Have you ever played either? I'm not defending Halo so much (I personally think it's the most over-rated game of all time, although multi-player is akin to a next generation of Goldeneye 007) but KOTOR? That was the most freakin' impressive RPG of the last generation.

bioware is gonna be busy making sequels for mass effect after it comes out but maybe they could squeeze in a kotor 3 :)

Read the reviews before getting jealous. If the game happens to be great, which is very likely since KOTORs were great, it will most likely be ported to PC which might lead me to buying it. Also PS3 is not getting anything like Mass Effect, PS3 aims for a different audience. I mean SONY is a Japanese company and they mostly try to make games for the Japanese, which means most RPGs will be JRPGs which might not be as bad as it sounds. I mean I don't think Mass Effect will be able to compete with the likes of Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts (rumoured), Star Ocean, White Knight Story etc. Just my opinion, Mass Effect seems like a game that is just way too big for the xbox. also I don't like the way they synchronized lips to the voice, it looks kinda stupid. I hope they fix it, since it's even worse than those Japanese RPGs in which the characters lips move according to the original dub instead of the American dub.

"Quite simply, the answer is no"? Where do you get that? We have no idea what will be produced for PS3 in the next 5-6 years. There isn't a KOTOR/ME like game currently announced, but it's foolish to think we won't get a Western RPG like Mass Effect at some point.

I played the first Kotor, pasted the first "episode" where the main character arrived at a grass land looking planet. Boy, do I hate that game though... the story.. nonexsistent, rolling dice mechanics is soo rigid and uninteresting, the leveling is absurd.

So I stopped playing the game, and swear to never touch any RPG that's similar to Kotor again.

Bioware have been a game slump since they stopped making Baldur's Gate. This game looks pretty, but if it even remotely keeps the KotoR gameplay style, I'll be avoiding it like the plague.

And I recommend Star Ocean 4 for your sci-fi RPG needs. People are touting it as the Oblivion of the Star Ocean series,but we shall see.

well here are a few:

Fallout 3, Final Fantasy 13 and Versus, White Knight Story, Star Ocean.... The PS3 will definately be getting more big Japanese RPGs than the 360 because of the 360s huge failure in Japan. Japanese developers dont want to invest making a game that wont sell in their own territory. I agree with you though I have a feeling Mass Effect will be my favorite game for the 360, I loved KOTOR the best out of all my Xbox games (better than the halos, yes). Thats why I own a 360 AND a PS3.... all the best games are on those consoles.
