Will you buy Tekken 6 brand new if it doesn't have online play?

Tekken is a great fighting game but it needs some new things if I going to come up with $60 for it the same could be said about Virtual Fighter 5 although both games will be great, I get tired of playing against the computer.  Is there a possibility of a new street fighter in 3d that is made much better than the last street fighter 3d game, going to be released for next gen?  I'm most likely going to wait for a price drop for these fighting games, how about you?

I would probably buy a new 3D street fighter game if it got good ratings whether or not it has online or not doesn't matter because it would feel like it had enough new things in it.

First off, I don't ever play fighting games online.

Secondly, the Tekken and VF series are too good to pass up because they lack a feature that I won't use.

Yeah definately, I'm not too bothered about fighting games being online and I enjoy playing against the computer. Definately gonna pick it up on release day.

After playing FPS games online I can't imagine these fighting games not being online this day and age.  Playing against the computer in the FPS games only takes you so far and I'm starting to feel the same way about fighting games but I have yet to play a fighting game online but I think it would be for the best.

Untill you start screaming about ho wyou last to lag or how you swore you hit the punch button before your opponent, trust me online fighting games are simply a bad idea. Fighting games and FPS are completly differnt animals you cant expect one to be just great online just because another is.

Also Capcom USA holds the rights to the Streetfighter series because Capcom Japan got tired of it and has no further plans for it so it's up to them and I doubt they will do anything too impressive even if they did.

That's when you upgrade your internet service or just stay offline. For those of us with fast connections online is a must especially since it's 2007. All games should be online. If anyone is concerned about online play they are better off getting an Xbox. If offline is your thing stick with the PS3.

I've been playing Time splitters future perfect with my ps3 and it runs great.  I've also heard that Resistance plays great online as well.  Maybe if I'm lucky Resistance will have a price drop in the summer or sometime around then and I can pick it up.  I was going to buy Haze at the end of March because it looks like it would easily be the best fps game for the ps3 so far but I've been highly disappointed by the news of the game not coming out till like 2008 or something like that.

So then I'm guessing that makes Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, a bad game? :|

Please, online play is NOT a necessary feature, especially for genres other than shooters, racing, and sports games.

No matter how fast your connection, there is always the potential of meeting someone else with a horrible one, and in a fighting game, the slightest amount of lag can be round-breaking, and not a slight inconvenience like in shooters.

Hmmm Oblivion is a single player game so why shoudl it be online? I am referring to multiplayer games i.e 2 players and up.

If either of the latest Tekken or Virtua Fighter games end up as good as the previous PS2 titles in their series, they'll both move to the top of the list of available PS3 games for me. Either one would be much better than almost all of the PS3 games we have available right now, so unless they somehow turn out much worse than expected, there's no way I wouldn't buy them.

Online play in either one of these titles is really a non-issue for me. Like others have mentioned, I mainly get games like this to enjoy offline. It's not really a connection issue -- I would imagine that 1.2mb DSL could handle them okay, but that aspect of it just doesn't appeal to me. Lack of online play doesn't really represent a negative for me in most genres of console games. I got over most of my online phase with shooters on the PC, and these days MMORPGs for the PC now cover about all the online gaming I need.

Ill be reserving tekken 6 regardless if its online or not but i would love for it to be online. I have DOA4 and its probably the most fun online game i have, BUT lag kills the whole experience.

It's Tekken! It doesn't need online. But that's why I prefer the PS3 over the 360 anyway... they make games that you can enjoy without having to go online to get any replay value.

Tekken is a great party game. You can gather your friends and play a Versus tournament with them. That way you forget about lag while you interact with them much more freely. So i would buy Tekken 6 even without online play.

Yeah, I'll buy it, and I won't hold lack of online play against it. What I might hold against it is the fact that purchased items (like Bryan's gun) can be used in-game. That screws everything up.

Tekken 6 will be a great if not one of the best fighting game whether it be online or offline.  Besides, the PS3 is next-gen, but our internet is still the same.
