Sry for another PSP Go thread but I haven't seen a will you upgrade thread yet so here it goes...(oh god....) Will you upgrade? Since the PSP Go was leaked on Qore which is basically offical sony news, the PSP Go is pretty much confirmed. One thing I loved however was we will still be able to get our games in the form of UMDs and use them on the current models. The Go seems cool but because I have a nice collections of games on UMD that I still play I most likely won't upgrade unless they find a way to transfer the games onto the Go. So are any of you going to Go upgrade when it comes out or later on in it's lifespan? The only thing that would hold me back is my UMDs.

I probably won't. I like having a hard copy of my game, not digital.

I do too but I am guessing that sooner or later the UMD format will be ditiched and we would have to upgrade for new content. So I think it would be benedical if they make or find an option to let us transfer our UMDs some how. Like: we register the UMD on the PSN, Then that game will be available free for download and we have our games. (of cousre the code would become invalid too).

What if you don't have a credit card or the PSN cards aren't available in your region, how can you buy the all digital games?

I think my 2000 will last me... the UMD games will drop in price and I'll get what I want, and a few downloads... but honestly I could care less about all of this. I'm a gamer well behind the times and I like it that way. Early adoption only gets you heartache lately when it comes to the newest tech gadgets and this will be no different. I assume it will take them glacial speed to make the thing fly correctly here in the States, and by then who knows what I'll be playing? Besides "Doom", for sure. The ONLY game i have any dedication to whatsoever. I've got games already that i haven't finished, and the few more that I actually care about (besides retro titles) will last... the sky is definitely not falling.

Probably not. The new PSP looks kinda ugly. The current ones look a million times better and sleeker. Plus, I want to be able to play my old UMDs. I'm going to wait till Sony completely puts out a real PSP2.

I like to have hard copy's of everything and this new psp looks ugly and the controls look awkward so I will stick with my 2000 and stay well away.

Yeah, they're still keeping the 3000 for sale. If you don't like the system appreciate the fact that Sony is stepping up their game with PSN and PSP owners can STILLdownload the new products.

I need more info before I cast the first stone (or, alternatively, jump on the Go bus). It would be great if Sony has some sort of online trade in plan for first/second/third adopters of the PSP, and 16 gigs of onboard memory is very attractive.

I need more information though; I guess I'll see if I'm yea or nay at E3.

its basically the same as a PSP-3000 (yes its got flash memory but that is countered with its smaller screen), which will cost you a couple hundred dollars again. so no.

No, I won't, I'll just wait for the PSP 2. If I didn't already have a PSP I definitely would get the Go model though.

Same resolution+ smaller screen= better picture. Yes, it's smaller, but the fact that it's smaller actually makes it better.

Plus take in the fact that a 16GB card would cost upwards of $50.

As i look at all of the crud piling up around me, the loss of UMD cases is no big deal... It's just that what i have works and will continue to work just fine even with all of the downloadable games in the future... Sony won't alienate the millions of hardware owners they already have as loyal fans, they just wanna add to it with this option. I love the idea of having a bunch of my favs (like I already do, with "Twisted Metal 2" and "Warhawk" PS1 classics off PSN) all available without all the UMDs lugged around, but... Money is too tight to start muckin' about. Simple.

Now, if I didn't own one yet, I would wait for a year or two into the thing's life to see how it fairs... THEN I'd buy!

I was going to put that in the poll but I then I had the stupid last already in place...I think I might do that as well. Once it's cheaper I may buy it.

Things are much more dependable these days then they were, even a few short years ago. I remember when CD came to the marketplace, and everyone complained about the soud and the risky format and the blah blah, and then albums began to be properly mastered for the format and the sound got better, and we all mellowed out (pretty much) on the idea of "going digital"... this is really no different. The technology is being brought up at a geometric rate since i began gaming back around 1977 - yes, I fart dust - and we as the adventurers in this new frontier, must take a few bold steps if we're ever gonna reach the Promised Land of video gaming... where you CAN have "Halo 3" in your pocket, an entire catalogue of "Final Fantasy" games at your fingertips, and a brighter day will dawn, and we will look at our PSPs and laugh at them like VirtualBoys, wondering just WHAT anyone was thinking with that ugly thing...

... like Mattel Football looks to me now...

... but I'll tell ya, back in the day it was cool... it wasn't the glory of a Foosball table, but then again, it fit in your POCKET.

These are electrifying times to be a gamer, folks... this is really one of the only places left to look upn something with starry-eyed wonder. Keep an open mind, and let the creators work with it a little before you bash on it too hard.

Whatever bluetooth functionality it has is all that comes to mind... I think it also has a longer battery life.

It would be pretty awesome if there was functionality with the PS3 controller. Now that I think about it, that seems kind of likely.

Having a longer battery-life would make sense... I guess... The UMD tray sucked out a lot of the battery.

Yeah to tell you the truth I love the PSP for the great feeling of controls. I'm sick of cheap touch screens that distort with the slightest touch. The PSP has a high-quality screen and I'm sure that it would cost them a lot to get a huge touch screen with the same quality.

I only have four games i'm using on my brothers PSP. Ace Combat, God of War, Resistance, and Metal Gear Solid.

if they have a way of transferring games via ONLY legit copies to your PSP Go, that would be amazing, if not no big loss for me really. though i really do wonder how far back they'll go in backward compatibility? will they offer up God of War, Resistance to the Playstation Network for download?

Another question, and this is very interesting for me atleast. with direct downloads. which cuts out the middle man and all the costs that go into making physical copies, how much less would digital downloads go for?

I haven't found much of a reason to buy anymore games for the PSP, simply because its big and clunky, and i really don't care for UMD's. the idea of treating my PSP like my iPod, or my cellphone, is awesome. along with remote play, ability to load up music, video, and photos all on the go is the icing on the cake.

really what it comes down to is the cost, what incentive can they give us to go for PSP Go, i think if the PSP Go is priced well, and if digital downloaded games are say $20 dollar or $30 dollar, rather then 30 or 40, you got yourself a really good system right there. there is no loss because of homebrew, or used games, and while Sony and the game makers may get less for each buy, it is a BUY that goes to their pockets. A digital download off of iPod for a movie can run from $10 dollar to $15, sometimes the regular 20 but still, over all cheaper.

I think for my own OWNED PSP, i am a Go for the PSP Go! :D

hope to see more about at the Sony E3 Conference.

think about it, no hassle with UMD or anything else, just your PSP Go.

at the touch of your fingertips, you can play your music, photos, and couple of movies you want on it.

Not to mention, Assassin's Creed, Little Big Planet, Metal Gear Solid, Gran Turismo, possibly backward compaitiblity or new God of War, and Resistance at the touch of your fingertips.

that is.... awesome...

It makes sense for the games to be cheaper. Really though, who knows how expensive the games will be. Jeanne D'arc is still 23 bucks, and it's pretty old. Tekken 6 for the PS3 is 20 bucks. Kind of unpredictable. The PSN only games are really cheap though. If they will be cheaper... Maybe $5-$10 lower. Then again, since Sony said in a previous interview, they will really be stepping up they're downloadable game.

I'm surprised so many people hate the convenience of downloadable titles... And enjoy lugging around clunky disks? I mean downloaded titles load way faster than most games, why all the hate? Like you said, I love the possibility of having your entire gaming library in one system (Hehe, this is starting to sound like the iPod)...

If the PSP Go was cheaper or the same price as the PSP 3000, then I'd imagine they'd sell well. More likely though is that it will be more expensive... There is bluetooth and 16 gigs.

So many things to consider! The very expensive 16 gigs... The lack of the mammoth UMD slot... The addition of Bluetooth... The much smaller amount of material...

I just hope that this isn't the first-gen PS3s all over again! By the look of all the haters here, it might be...

I remember I used to be like you. I thought the PSP-1000 was perfect until I actually picked up an updated model. Now I can barely stand to hold that fat, uncomfortable, outdated version with a horrendous D-pad and awful LCD screen.
