I was just wondering wether Home will be the new face of the PSN, or will they run it both. Theoretically Sony can run everything they have on PSN through Home. Welll all in all things are starting to look up for the ps3, and i would say 2008 could be their year to dominate again.

I believe HOME is simply an expansion to PSN as a whole. The non-immersive part of sony's online, where you can easily pick through the games you want is PSN, while the fully 3D interface is HOME.

I'd like to think you'll be able to access it both ways, as I'm sure some people would prefer not to have to go through Home in order to get to certain content. Myself, I'm fine with it however it goes.

It would be nice if they combine both which I believe they will.

Yah well i just wondering cause they can run the PSN shop through virtual shops in SONY HOME, but i think your right in the sense that some people might still want the straight fowardness of the PSN shop, instead of having to go to 3D virtual shops in HOME. I hope SONY's HOME works out cause it seems great

It should not replace, because when you are in a hurry to buy something, I probably would not want to bother walking to a virtual store. Unless it has auto load inside a store, which is tight.

I think they should just overhaul the PSN and make home as an expansion to PSN, also itegrate PSN to PS3 games.

either way, if HOME is the New PSN, thats ok with me, as long as they run virtual shops online and all, then that would be awesome.

HOME probably is the new PSN, but some aspects of PSN will obviously be available such as being able to simply DL movies, trailers, etc. I'm guessing HOME is just the community/multiplyer part and PSN is the store.

But there is no reason for them to replace PSN.
I'm sure there are people that prefer to play games the traditional way.
So I don't think you would be required to enter Home to play games online or to watch trailer etc...

They will try to push Home as the primary option though, making it where you WANT to be, not where you NEED to be. Like you see they just add a home Icon on your bar.

I think they could make it so Home is the new interface, So it's like your starting log in location will be your private space (your personal Home)... something like that.

They would be pretty bloody stupid to completely replace a traditional GUI with yet ANOTHER abstraction layer like Home. Home is great for just having stupid sandbox fun (e.g. like in the Sims), but when it comes to actually DOING something useful, like buying something or sending messages, the average gamer prefers convenience and responsiveness over flourish. That said, Home is pretty *bleeping* cool. It just won't be a practical replacement for something like PSN or XBL.

Home is an addition on top of PSN, not a replacement to the service.

It is kind of like a main city in an MMORPG, or the main lobby in a shooter, except to the extreme, it is a meeting place where you can do plenty of stuff outside of the main PS3 games.

Basically, PSN is the store and HOME is the community

I think that Home will complement the PSN, not replace it.
