Im sure alot of people choosed Wipeout as one of their free games. So I wonder what do you think about this. It seem the game took longer to load then it should in order to for the full commerical to complete. I seen ads in video games but actual commericals?

Mine didn't take longer to load, but I do have a fast connection. I was thrown off by the commercial too, but it doesn't bother me. It's not like the annoying commercials you're forced to sit through before your youtube video will play. I hate those.

Yup, they always had them. It doesn't prolong the loading so who cares?

I thought they were patched in. I don't remember them at all when the game launched. Pretty lame 'addition' to the game.

I've never seen a commercial. I just choose the track and it loads.

The only ads I've seen were the ads in the loading screen in Smackdown vs RAW 2010.

Great, I've avoided the 360 because of ads, if they start coming to the PS3 I'll be peeved.

I kno rite?

It genuinely pissed me off. I mean, if the studio was low on funds and they needed to sell out, I could deal, but it's just futching annoying.

Doesn't help that the game was, like, 20 bucks.

Commercial? I've never seen any commercials in that game (granted it's been months since I've played it).

Never seen it, maybe i'm just ignorant to it though. MS are doing this standard in Xbox games now, so expect a lot more people(assuming you have a 360).

It definitely takes longer to load when the commercial plays. And it is just SOOOOOO freakin' annoying watching that same damned commercial over and over and over.

Oh well, it was a pretty mediocre game and I got it for free. Don't think I'll be seeing that commercial ever again

So what? The loading times for the game have been pretty killer since it first came out.

And when half of Studio Liverpool is probably still jobless right now, I really can't complain about a couple commercials they need to use in order to keep their meager team afloat.

I don't remember ever seeing adds back when I played it either. If they seriously added them then I just won't ever play it again

The ads were added in after the games release. What's odd is that i dont recall seeing them when i play, but then again i was never really paying attention when the game loads. I'll have to keep my eye out for them next time.

Not sure why they'd need commercials to stay afloat when they're owned by Sony.

Wipeout is the best game on PSN. You got it for free so you shouldn't really be complaining. I paid for it years ago and the commercials are not obtrusive so it doesn't matter. The load times are blazing fast as well.

What an absolute ridiculous post. The game didn't launch with adverts. They spent a lot of time and effort creating the game to the extremely high standard it is. After launch they had financial issues. So they included some non intrusive adds in the short load times to alleviate the problems. Your comment was just ignorant and unnecessary.

How is what I said ridiculous? What's ridiculous is paying for content and seeing adverts unobtrusive or not. When you buy a film or a music album you don't expect ads so why would it be acceptable in a game.

Good job you don't have a 360... Or you'd have a heart attack witht he amount of ads you see in the paid service which should be free and MS are adding even more ads into games in future, so you pay to see ads on the dash, and now in your games as well. I say you got off lucky.

Do you have any idea how much time, effort and money goes into video game development? Do you honestly believe that a game of Wipeout's calibre should be free because there are some small adds that appear for several seconds during a load screen?

Wipeout itself has always included real life brands in the game. One of the very first games featured Red Bull quite heavily, its done deliberately to ground the game.

I'm not saying adverts in a game are a good thing. I sure as hell don't want to see them. However, in Wipeout's case I think they're acceptable. Some form of real life branding is part of the Wipeout universe. I recall Puma being in the PSP games a lot too.

Saying that they are greedy bas***ds and that the game should be free is ridiculous though.

It was a game given out for free, it would make sense to have commercials. The commercials don't causethe loading to take any longer so I don't see what the big deal is...

I still don't see your point as with alot of free media uses adverts as a way of supplement income for services E.G. radio, internet sites, broadcast televison, and just because other games have done it doesn't validate any of your argument. I noticed you hold the wipeout series in high regard as do I, but just because I like something doesn't mean that it can't stand any criticism. Although the greedy basterds comment might have been a little harsh but in my opinion it is kinda like double dipping and it shouldn't be tolerated in the slightest or we'll be seeing a lot more of it.

The bar doesn't slow down to allow the commercial to catch up, I don't get this comment. The loading bar flows at a pretty continuous speed and the load times are still only several seconds long.

Really medoicre for it's age and the fact it's a PSN game it's better then most on the store. As for commericials it had some in 2009 but now I haven't seen a commericial I guess Sony Computer Entertainment Europe have removed them.

Finally, evidence! I bought this game hard copy more than a year ago, and these commercials came up where no one else believed me. I asked everyone else but they all didn't take me seriously.

interesting, some people say there are commercials, some dont.
