So I decided to buy a HD TV this weeekend, but I'm still deciding witch one.

Can any of you help me out?

The main things I'm wondering is plasma or Lcd, witch manufacterer is better, and the difference between 1080i or 1080p.

LCD Sony bravia, or samsung

The difference between 1080i and p is the technology, I stands for interlaced, the picture is, well interlaced. While P means progressive, its basically the entire picture painted on with one stroke(MUCH BETTER picture). For gaming P>I, so even 720p is better than 1080i for the ps3. hd television is broadcasted at 1080i though. Blu Ray movies are all 1080p. Only a couple of games do 1080p right now

Also, make sure to see the contrast ratio before you buy.

There are two things you must check when you intend to buy a HD-TV for games...

Response time

Contrast...

It depends on how much money you have to spend.

It depends on how much money you want to spend. Sonys are pricier, but worth the money IMO. I have a 40' Sony Bravia V series 1080p. I would definately go with 1080p, though it might be a little more money. I wish I could have sprung for the next up model which is the 46' but then you are talking $2,300 which is a little out of my budget. I got my 40' for $1,500. The only problem I have with Sony is that their TV's are a couple inches smaller than similar models and they are actually MORE expensive, but the picture IS better on Sonys. They are top rated along with Samsung.

don't rule out DLP sets.

some basics about dlp

-------------------------

No burn in at all

High contrast levels (10,000 ish)

super fast response times (around 16 microseconds, not to be confused with miliseconds)

General longer life than plasma or LCD sets

Cost less

-------------------------

All you pay is that they are slightly fatter than lcd/plasma TVs. size

I'm just saying because when I was shopping for an HDTV I did a lot of research, and after trying out the Plasma and LCD TVs I stayed with the DLP because it was just better.

only thing is you can't hang them on the wall. I don't care much for that but some do.

so imo look into it. :)
