Of course it's worth buying. You have a large library of good games to choose from (not to mention some big titles still on the way)... it's not like the approaching NGP changes that. I would get the 3000 were I you. Even if you don't want to use UMDs (which I'm sure you do--cheaper, etc.) it has a larger screen and the Go's advantages aren't very significant imho...
Yes, you can play imports. No region lock.
I have a 1000, 3000, and a GO. And I must say the 3000 is my fravorte PSP system. The only bad thing is you might want to buy a larger memory stick to have lots of PSN games on it (so you can import to the NGP later). Also, the games are so cheap now. I got Metal Gear Pease Walker for the PSP for only 19.99 at gamestop. :D
Yup it is still worth getting; I still have my psp 1000 and when on the go [and when I have time :P] I play it as long as I can. I suggest doing some research on all of the systems since each one has its pro/cons thus targeting different people. I prefer the 1000 over the latest models; Yes the PSP 2000/3000 is more slimmer, lighter, more portable, and has tv support but I noticed that the quality of the portable has been cheapened. It is not as solidly built as the 1000 and the grip of the 1000 is more comfortable due to the slightly rounded ends on the back of the system. Check out wikipedia for some detailed specifics and good luck :)

The 3000's build is good enough.
i just bought a pspgo last night (wanted an mp3 player that could do a little more) and i think it is sweet. I don't plan on gettin a whole bunch of games anyway outside of minis and 'peace walker'. But, it is def. pretty sweet so far
[QUOTE="pills4louis"]*soundless rage* No, just no. The scanline "issue" is so boring it makes me want to die whenever someone brings it up. The only people I have EVER heard complain about it are 2000 owners.1000 owner here. I've played my friend's 2000 for a mere matter of hours before playing a 3000 at an in-store demo at Gamestop. The difference was an eyesore. Even the view of the sky panning down during the title screen of some mediocre JRPG (I think it was The Legend of Heroes, or Valhalla Knights, or something along those lines?) showcased the 3000's horrible refresh rate and scanlines, scanlines, scanlines. I'm sorry, but some of us have standards. Why pay more for the inferior model? 2000 is where it's at, and once my 1000's D-pad finally goes, I'm replacing it with a 2000. If people want to buy 3000's, whatever. Easier for me to find a used 2000 that way. It's just sad that the fanboys have settled for such a faulty unit, and even sadder that Sony never rectified this glaring problem. Even worse than the DS Lite refresh rate change fiasco of 2006.3000's screen still has scanline issues. 2000 is best.

Since the 3000 has an improved refresh rate, and was the first PSP with absolutely no ghosting, I'm safely assuming you have no idea what you're talking about. "horrible refresh rate" indeed. And an in-store demo is hardly experience with a product.[QUOTE="jedinat"][QUOTE="pills4louis"]

If you're planning on upgrading to the NGP, I would get the PSP Go. That way you'll be able to trade it in towards the NGP and not lose any of your games that you've downloaded.

I've no real interest in the NGP.

I'm not against the 3000 [played some of my friend's system] but I prefer the 1000 over it because of the grip and the price -beneficial for me at least:P
