Would COD4 be worth getting just for the single-player?

Everyone just keeps raving about this game, but I have absolutely zero interest in playing online (which is the only mode anyone ever seems to talk about), so I'm wondering just how great the campaign mode is.I know it's short, but it's not that much shorter than Heavenly Sword, and I bought that one, so I'm more concerned about the level of quality.

I'm the same. I bought it and the single player is GREAT! I also bought GRAW2 (also short SP) and played online like twice but still liked that game. COD4 is worth the purchase because its a fun ride and you can always play through again on the harder difficulties. I say get it. As for level of quality... I'd say its AAA for a FPS.

IMO, I thought that COD4's SP was intense and great. Having awesome multiplayer warranted a purchase from me.

If you play the single player, why in the world wouldn't you take advantage of the multiplayer??? It's kinda like buying a porche and keeping it in the driveway...sure it's nice that you got it and you can have alot of fun with it just sitting there and profiling...but it's better to take it on the road and pick up girls with...okay...yea...that's was a bad analogy...sorry...:P

But if you're not interested in the MP, rent it...

Some people just don't like online gaming. I'm one of those people.

Although it's short the SP is great and intense, and some of the best missions ever in a FPS, so I say yes

i would say you can just rent it otherwise its not worth it. even on veteran only took me 8 hours. and if you play it on veteran youll be playing the levels more then once (at least till you figure out whats scripted and beat it) then you might as well play it on a lower difficulty and just play the whole story more then once. repeating a certain section a couple of times is defiently not as cinematic as playing through the game in one sitting(kind of like a movie).

also on veteran youll notice there is barely an AI and everything is scripted something you will not really notice on the lower difficulties because youll really only play it once. also in the end there isn't a lot of content, at least singleplayer only, to warrant buying this game. if your just doing singleplayer i would say just rent it and play it on hardened or bellow. playing it on veteran just makes it extremely repetitive and ruins the pace of the game in my opinion, but it will make the game last a bit longer (but there really is'nt any point to it in my opinion). its just my opinion and as forrest gump would say "thats all i have to say about that'.

I'd say no....

...While it has some fairly impressive scripted moments here and there, the storyline is practically null and the fact that you can finish it quite quickly doesn't help much. Also there's no replay value to speak of due to the extreme linearity and lack of offline features.

I would definitely recommend you one because the quality of the game is high comparing with the ones which are out.

SP is awesome maybe short but still great.

It is the change for old good Counter-Strike IMO.

The single campaign is top quality. If you're looking for a great shooter it's absolutely worth. If you don't want to spend 60$, it's also a great rental.

I did bought it for multiplayer, as COD is know for long lasting and enjoyable online experience.

Then again, any game could be rented. ^_^

The campaign is great compared to previous and current similar offerings. Very short though, my vote is for a rent.

If you care about quality then get the game, the story is great there are the awsome parts, one of the best single player campaignes ever, sadly its very short but then again quality over quantity. I also suggest you do try online if you get the game, if you dont have a connection well i guess you cant but the SP is awsome and you wont regret it
