i liked the first one its not as good as the second but its cheap you can get a greatest hit version for cheap or a used one for even cheaper plus it looks funny on your trophy screen having uncharted 2 and nothing for 1.
I would recommend playing it just for the fact that its a good game and I think Uncharted 2 is the better game. Its not necessary though so if you really want Uncharted 2 then there's no problems playing that one first.
I found the story in Unchated to be very shallow and predictable. Uncharted 2 was able to make the flawed mechanics of the first much better so just play that one. The first one is not worth paying for.
i played UC2 first(it was the reason i bought my PS3), and after playin UC2, i didnt like UC1. I'm sure it is a good game, but UC2 is so awesome the it makes UC1 look bad. I though UC1 has clunky controls. UC2 has online which adds lots of replay, but ive played the 1 player 4 times though. Just get 2, and maybe 1 if you really cant wait until UC3 comes out.
I LOVE Uncharted 2 but didn't care much for Uncharted 1. It came with my PS3, so I didn't have much a choice to play it or not. And while I see it as a good game, it was just that a good game. And while you seemed to already make your choice a while ago I think. Story wise it doesn't matter much, there's a main character that pops up near the beginning of the game. And it will make it more interesting if you remember her from the first game, it won't leave you confused or lost if you don't.

I got a PS3 last year right when Uncharted 2 came out so I played that when first and beat it then bought the first one for 20 dollars used and beat that. I think if you want the full experience you really should play and beat both. The first one continues right to the second one
I recommend playing both because you can see how much of an improvement 2 is over 1 in most ways. Plus 1 is still a great game by most standards and worth checking out. I played 2 first actually, and then played 1. Either way, both rock.

Yeah I agree. You should just play it because it's a good game in its own right. U2 is better and it isn't necessary to play the 1st, but it's a good game anyways.
No need to play Uncharted 1. The sequel is a totally new story and it's told with movie-caliber quality and since it's so much better than the 1st, just go for it. It's the best game i've played on the PS3 yet.

They are stand alone games. You don't miss antyhing by not playing UC1 exceot UC1. Nothing carries over or matters. I played the 2nd one first and liked it then I played the 1st one and liked it better than the 2nd.
I'm with him/her, play UC1 first. I can't believe there's people saying UC1 wasn't good or whatever, of course is not UC2, but still very well done. You will be amazed by how great that game is for been released in 2007.
The only thing that ud miss out on is the store cash bonus u get for having a Drake's Fortune save. Otherwise, U2 is still a great game even without playing the first
Absolutely not.....the first uncharted was awesome and gamespots score doesn't do it justice, then the second is that much better, get the first uncharted atleast rent it....
Why on earth would you want to? If you want to play Uncharted 2, you should want to play Uncharted 1. There's no excuse for skipping the first one, NONE.
yehh dude, its no problem playing the second one first not for the story, you might just understand the characters a little more if u play the first one, i played the second one first and really it was as good a game as i thought, go for it dude
Its not needed. Uncharted 2 doesnt not pick up where the 1st on ended. Uncharted 2 is one of the best games the ps3 has to offer. However, after playing uncharted 2 you will want to play uncharted 1 to see the difference. I know i can't get enough of that Nathan Drake.
I think the first one has the better story, i would recomend playing it first. They are both great games. But I enjoyed the first one more cos its less sensationalised (overdone). Uncharted 2 is good cos of the online
