I dont play RPGs much at all...GCmaniac
Then don't get it.
I don't play RPG's at all too, but loved this game. It was my first RPG to play in my whole gaming life, so it's really up to you on this one.

If you dont trust his judgement trust mine. DONT EVEN BOTHER with this game. Youll get bored after 5 minutes. Thats what happened to me and Ive never played it since
i love RPGs, and i like open-world games alright but for some reason i did not like oblivion all that much. i can respect it as an awesome achievment in gaming and can totally see how others like it but it wasnt for me. one thing i hated was the scaling of the enemies levels with your own level.skrillalover
That's actually the good thing in Oblivion. You always get a fair fight. It sucks when you're too weak or too strong.
One thing I don't like in RPGs is leveling up. Don't level up = you'll get your as$ kicked. Too high level = boring.

Anyone who condemns a game after 5 minutes of playing time is ignorant and their opinion is not to be trusted. Oblivion takes 30 minutes to an hour before you even get into the actual game world. It is a great game and will keep you occupied for months to come. I just started playing it again yesterday as a matter of fact, and it's still as fun as day 1. There's an amazing amount of content in that game.
You should do yourself a favor and buy it. Make sure you get the GOTY edition also.
The game is pure garbage if you like RPGs.
If you've never played an RPG, you'll likely think its great.
I tend to think of it as garbage- not even worth using the disc as a coaster. It's a bland world where you can be sure that you'll never be challenged because everything is scaled to your level.

If you don't play RPG why the hell are you posting this?
ROFL true.
I recommend Oblivion highly... particularly if you get GOTY edition, which has Shivering Isles.
It depends though... I mean, you have to be comfortable with a slower paced game, y'know? Do you like RPGs?
YES. its a fantastic game, i put well over 100 hours playing it. whats good about it is that its an action rpg, no turnbased or anything, and thats what rpgs should be about thinking about your enemy in real time.
get it, although it will suck a huge amount of your time... so get the GOTY edition :)
I think Oblivion is a good RPG to kinda get into. It has a good deal of action with the bow and arrow especially and some magic and swordplay. It's pretty "actiony" as far as RPGs go, though not in a shallow sort of way. For instance, you can shoot characters with a powerful arrow shot and they will fly back with the force of the impact utilizing some neat physics. The story is pretty good too.
The game is interesting, I think you will like it. :) Remember...use Sneak Attack the most powerful ability in the game and the most fun to use
i love JRPG's i loved Oblivion, which is just about the farthest thing you could buy from a JRPG.americahellyeahExactly how i feel xD
