thats odd, I was just playing RE4 today. I've had it for a while though.
aiming could be better, but I imagine its supposed to simulate the difficulty of actually trying to shoot something from far away. I think my biggest complaint is the right analog stick's very limited camera control. the inability to walk and shoot or stab seems a little silly too.
RE4 is definitely the best in the series, in my opinion. The only thing that I hope they change for RE5 (apart from upgraded graphics, of course) is pull the camera back a little more as in previous RE games, so that it's similar to Uncharted's camera. I just feel that type of camera/aiming system is more fluid with the gameplay and is much smoother in terms of getting the feel of gunfights. It also lets you see a little behind you, which I missed in RE4 that was in the other REs.
I did really enjoy RE4s varying locales, and I hope RE5 doesn't do something like be always outside or always inside a building. Also, of course, I hope the story can be as good, since RE4 definitely had the best story of any RE.
I also hope they bring back rifles, since always having a sniper rifle ready made the game a lot more fun. Not to mention, it was also nice to have the shotgun as the main weapon, rather than a weak POS as it usually is, forcing you to stockpile Grenade Launcher rounds for every major fight.
If they want to change one thing about the weapons, which I think was one of the strongest points of RE4, I would want them to lower the damage on the Magnums a little and put in a lot more ammo for them. First off, a magnum is not gonna be 3-4x stronger than a shotgun/rifle, and second, .45 calibur rounds should be easier to find than shotgun/rifle rounds, or at least as common. Maybe keep the Magnum unavailable till the 2nd half of the game or later, but when you do get it, adjust everything to the point that it replaces the handgun (that's just a suggestion, and I'm not even sure I would like that idea ;) ).
One last thing I hope they bring back that was new is the merchant. I think the merchant was a lot better than having random upgrades found in a box in a random room.

Even though you have a point the magnum has always been the most powerful weapon outside of a missle launcher on the RE series ever since the RE original so most of us have gotten use to it. When I play any RE game I reserve all my magnum ammo for bosses.
RE4 is my favorite game of all time closely followed by Castlevania Symphony of the Night, and Super Metroid

As anyone can tell from my sig/avatar, I am an avid RPG fan. Other than RPGs, though, I would put RE4 in my top 5 all time games easily (SotN is definitely there as well).

I never said the Magnum shouldn't be the most powerful weapon (aside from rocket launcher and such), but it shouldn't be almost 4x more powerful than a shotgun/rifle (which it is, the most powerful Magnum (not including Handcannon) is over 3x as powerful as the most powerful shotgun/rifle), and never was in past REs.
i hope they don't bring back the merchant and collecting cash it was ridiculous and made it feel more like "house of the dead" than resident evil. I was constantly thinking what the **** is this dude doing here with all these guns, when there are crazy zombies on the loose, it didnt tie-in with survival horror what so ever..

I agree that they never really explained the merchant, but I still like the purchasing system better than finding stuff randomly stuffed away in a box. Maybe in RE5 they can come up with a way that makes more sense than a merchant, but still lets you choose what and how to upgrade your weapons.

I dont ever use the magnum though have my pistol maxed out, which has proven to be very powerful. although while the camera does need to be tweaked, which im sure will be in the part 5, dont you think that will take away from the horror value. I found the the restriction on the camera added to the tenstion. ammo is very intelligently spread out that encourages conservaion which as a game deviates from your average crazy brainless shooter, so i would like that to remain. But i do agree the merchant needs to stay and has become vital to the excitment and sense of achievment to the game

You were saying that it shouldn't be the most powerful weapon I get that I agree, but thats how the game is. I've played and beaten. RE1 and remake, RE2, RE3, RE Survivor1, RE code veronica, RE0, RE outbreak 1and2, and RE4 both on the GCand PS2. So obviously I'm an avid RE gamer, and in evey sinle game the magnum was the most powerful weapon outside of a missle launcher.
I like all RE series. Story is great and gives you nice goose bumps :D
I can't wait for the next one to come out.

:) I didn't say anything about ammo being randomly placed, I'm talking about weapon upgrades, such as a stock or scope being randomly found. As for the camera angle, I still think it should be pulled back or at least put in a better system to turn around, because the Down+Square doesn't feel responsive enough. I also hope they can make it so when you draw your gun you can walk with the left stick while aiming with the right. Somewhat annoying that you have to stand in place while aiming.

Again, I never said the magnum SHOULDN'T be the most powerful gun, but it shouldn't be 3-4x as powerful as a shotgun/rifle. The magnum had about the same power as a point-blank shotgun blast in previous REs, but had the much better range. The magnum was never as powerful as it is in RE4, that's all I'm saying they need to fix. Make it about 2x as powerful, and it would be alright and they could put in more ammo as well so you didn't have to save it just for bosses. However, I really hope they never put in ammo on the merchant. If they ever do that, they will have to GREATLY up the difficulty or else the game would be extremely easy in comparison. I honestly think they should get rid of the First Aid Spray from the merchant as well.
no I don't think it was. fun game no doubt but it didn't expand on any of the former RE games. They pretty much just milked the RE name and characters and made a whole new game. They pretty much completely took out all of the puzzles and made the game kinda linear. There was now way you could get lost on where to go. It pretty much had nothing to do with umbrella, or said anything on how wesker got his "super powers"
I guess I just didn't like that they didn't follow up on the umbrella/RE story

I agree with you the magnum shouldn't be more powerful than the shotgun/rifle period, but it is and I and many have gotten use to it. The magnum has always been more powerful than the shotgun in every RE game. The magnum was the only gun that could pop a zombies head off in one shot. Plus when it came to bosses you could level a boss faster using the magnum.
the game was very good....i loved it but i didnt like the part where the zombies had guns, machine guns...etc i mean come on now they are zombies not human......that was sillyiqballo
Because they weren't zombies they weren't dead just infected with a parasite, which didn't cause the body to breakdown and decompose still leaving the brain and muscles intact.
Yeah you need to be able to walk as you shoot, other than that i loved it

my favourite game of all time, and one of the best games EVER made! People who say it's overrated obviously didn't buy the game when it came out, and didn't get the same feeling of awesomeness this game had on the gamecube. (although the ps2 version is just as good, and some would consider it better than the gc, cause of the extras).
I personally, had the GC version, the PS2 version, and after moving to a different country and selling those 2, I was lucky enough to buy the Limited Edition, Steel case version of the game for a good price. Awesome game, nuff said.
