would you buy Final Fantasy XIV

Now I'm a big RPG fan, but never got into the MMOrpg's, because i held the notion that if you buy a game you shouldn't have to pay just to play the game you just bought. are you still with me?.. let me explain, i don't want to pay double or triple or even yearly to play a game that i bought .(cant help my self I'm dutch...)

people and friends tried to persuade me to go and play this game ''World Of Warcraft'' but then i saw the kiddy graphics and a staggering 9 races to chose from.

and i was like . yeah I'm uniq, they're going to recognise me and my avatar me and those 11million other players .Not to **** about WOW i know the item and weapons lay out are pretty impressive. but i couldn't shake the picture from the freak out kid, trying to put a remote where the sun doesn't shine, because of a deleted WOW account.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YersIyzsOpcsad indeed......

but somethings bugging me......FFXIV it seems like the some what mature MMORPG witch i have been waiting for..

the endless customizing a true one of a kind avatar.. there's this little voice telling me to buy this game..

should i, should i give in to pay monthly or something like that, to play i game i bought...'' and there for own ... but for me to play i need to pay extra... but i bought the damn thing... im going in circles here....

so what would you do. buy FFXIV or don't waist the money.....

I'm definitely buying it. It's not a waste of money if you have the time to put into the game. Also if you think about the server maintenance required to run the game paying $13/month doesn't seem that bad.

I did play WoW when I had some free time, and seeing how I played a lot, I felt I was getting what I deserve for my money. But right now I have no time whatsoever, I can barely play PS3 10 hours per week so nah. I'd love to be able to play it though, it looks very nice and an MMO for PS3 seems as a cool idea but yeah, the monthly fees aren't for everyone to be frank.

No, MMORPGs are bad for you. Just look at all the people in Korea who stop going to work to play starcraft and all the people who died from dehydration from "PKING" in world of warcraft.

If it's monthly fee, probably not. Micro transactions are fine though. Played a free MMOs where it's free to play but has a shop for extrasxsynth

It's 12.99 a month. I'm going to try it out. Honestly if it's a fleshed out, polished version of FFXI, I'll probably enjoy it.frostybanana

I got the collector edition already on preorder. I was a big fan of XI so hopefully it stays the same in XIV (or else i'll go back to XI O.O)

It's 12.95 USD a month plus 3 USD for each additional character. 1 USD to make an avatar that sells crap for you... There is no Auctionhouse to sell things to other players to make money. Unless you buy the 1 dollar avater shop vendor (which allows you to sell things even when you're offline), you're SOL! lol. It releases March 2011 for PS3. I will probably have a killer PC rig by then, because I'm enrolled in 3d graphics in college, and there are literally a TON of better MMORPGs out on the market. I will probably not be getting this for PS3 or PC. :?

I find that 12.95 and then an extra 3 dollars a month for additional characters is crap! SE has their heads up their behinds for this one..... again :x

One thing I will say about most MMORPGs... The best ones are almost always pay to play. Honestly, 12 or 15 bucks per month is really not that bad, if the only online game you play is that MMORPG. I believe in paying people for their hard work (people have to eat too, and supporting a server based game is a full time job.lol).

But, I will have to admit, I wish that price per month was more like 5 USD per month instead the current pricing.

To the OP: You will probably want to avoid this game dude... Since you don't like the pay to play thing, I doubt very much that this will be worth the investment. Best advice I could give to you in particular is play PnP games from now on.:lol:

No becuase I can't afford a monthly bill. Maybe if the game was like 10 bucks and then I would try it for a few months, but as it is the answer is no.nightshade869
