Folding@HOME is great for the research, I have one project complete yay. It would be awesome if ther was a Universe@HOME on the XMB not for research unless its possible but just for users knowledge, to learn about the Universe. Yes it won't interest everyone but I would be interested, I would watch a documentry on the stars if it was on TV. It would be awesome if the Universe@HOME was this expansive 3d simulation running on PS3 and you had our Solar system mapped out in 3d. You could travel to the planets and the Sun and they'll have a realistic look to it all as if you was there. There would be voice over information about the planets and well all sorts really.

I would like to see Google Earth too on XMB but in a different form than on PC. They could do with a new user freindly UI for starters. On the PS3 the earth will have more interaction and a great feature would be if you had a tool that would allow you to create you own 3d models of buildings.

Just some crazy ideas, what do you guys think?

It's an idea worth recommending, but the big problem is what is in it for Sony.  I mean, the idea is great in theory, but you have to first find a way to make it profitable and then create an audience.  I don't know the specifics behind Sony's deal with Stanford University, but I'm certain Sony is definitely getting either some sort of a boost financially or getting a hefty tax-deduction.  I'd be very surprised otherwise.  In my own opinion, however, I definitely like to tinker around in those applications if they were offered.  Maybe you could make the PS3 a virtual education utility of sorts and sell it to schools.  Heck, it could happen...

I think an audience can be there if there was interaction with the programs I have been trying to think where the profit would come in. A bought download would work if it was really that good.
