If you have a penchant for a good story, solid gameplay, and some very nice graphics, then you can't go past it. Waiting to collect a few more add on packs from the store before restarting it again.
Some people are reminded of Shadow of Memories by Folklore....if you have fond memories of Shadow of Memories, but Folklore straight away.
Folklore has a good story and is based on Japanese fantasy, beautiful graphics and for once game is not short.
Definitely not a rent.
Folklore is absolutely amazing. I was not disappointed in the least. The plot was qutie interesting, the characters memorable, and the game ran very smooth. In fact, I was always more interested in Keats, but after playing through some of Ellen's stuff, her mechanics were varied just enough to make it awesome. The visuals are excellent, not realistic excellent, but excellent because of the art direction and design. Also, I loved the music, as well as the way in which the story was told (semi comic book style). The game does have some minor problems (like slight frame rate lag occasionally and a fair amount of loading times (install to the harddrive will lower these times)) but otherwise, I think that honestly this game was underreviewed by most people. However, I recognize that the game is mainly attractive depending on your perspective and penchant, so their reviews are quite valid, but I wouldn't agree with them mostly.
I honestly bought it thinking it has awesome art design, and I came away presently surprised by the story and the entire work as a whole. It is a really great game, and the story, though slightly confusing at times or can be drawn out, is still excellent and the game seems was definitely worth buying it.
If you like a good story, get it. The story is awesome!
The battle system is cool and if you are completist like me, you'll end up using every folks to max them up, so it will add a lot of variety.
But if you prefer non-stop action and explosion, that's not the game for it.
The first few hours are really fun, then the game gets VERY repetitive. IDs (enemy souls) are not varied enough to make the gameplay more dynamic. Story is intereting, but the pace at which it is told is absurdly slowand made me lose interest later on. Then you have to play the same levels twice (although it is poplulated with different creeps). Overall, it is an good game that gets very repetitive.
